Hey guys, I'm setting up an NPVR client machine to my main NPVR box and I hit a small snag. It's an ultra-slim profile desktop and I don't have a riser card for it. That means I can't put my spare PVR-150 in it, which I would use only for the remote control interface.

I can try hunting down a riser card for this machine, but I see that Microcenter near me sells this: Hauppauge PCTV Remote Kit for Media Center

Has anyone had any experience with this? Would this work with NPVR? It seems like a cheap and easy way to solve my issue, assuming this works with NPVR.

Any ideas?

Alternately, if there are any other remote kits that would work, or any other ideas for controlling this thing, that would be great. My only alternatives right now are to buy the Hauppague 950 usb stick with remote which is a waste since I only need the remote, a wireless keyboard/mouse combo (bluetooth?), or find a different machine that I can put a capture card in, which is still a waste since I only need the remote control... grr...

If you can wait 10 days or so, check out the MCE remote by seller dacheng on e-bay. I have one and it works great, although on XP you'll need to install the MCE ehome drivers. $16.50 shipped.

So the setup for NextPVR is easy? And it definitely WILL work then? I'd be running on Windows 7 so I probably wouldn't need those drivers, right? I'm not in any huge rush, so waiting a few days on ebay to get the best deal shouldn't be a problem.

Works "out of the box" on NPVR on Win 7. Plug and play, for a change. I don't think you even have to tell NPVR what remote you have. I don't know how Sub does it, but it works. I've got one right here on my test box that I'm typing on at the moment.

Awesome! I was really getting frustrated with this machine but this is great news! Thanks so much for the answer and Thanks to sub for an awesome program!

Even better! Microcenter near me has 3 of them in stock! Guess I'm making a stop on the way home! Yeah... I'm impatient when I get excited about stuff! Smile

I recently bought the Hauppauge PCTV Remote Kit, and could not get all of the remote buttons to be recognized. Have you had any luck? If so, what software do you use? I am using the build in Windows 7 eHome driver, and the MCE Remote Mapper. I could not get EventGhost to recognize the Hauppauge IR plugin, even after installing WinTV and Ir32.exe.
NPVR 4.1.0.180302 o Kodi 17.6 o EventGhost 0.5.0.rc4 o SAF 6.3.2 o SchedulesDirect

For that remote I think you want to put the remote in MCE mode and use the eventghost mce plugin. That's what I use for the remote that the came with my HVR-2250.
