Hello GBPVR fans, and sub in particular -- ehm sorry, NextPVR fans,

I'm back on this forum after years. I've been using GBPVR from it's very start. I remember getting an early version (simple executable) from sub because of a question of mine on some forum. I was using a Hauppauge 350 card, and was looking for a way to use its tv-out optimally. sub was able to deliver that. And the same hardware setup is running until today. The last gbpvr version that supported the 350's tv-out is driving it to good satisfaction.

Now I'm looking into a new setup as our cable provider has reduced the number of analog channels too much. But, and that is my question, is nextpvr able to provide a stable pvr with the encoded digital tv from dutch ziggo? Any Dutch users with concrete experiences?
I found on this forum some struggles from 2009, a link to this post from 2009. But sub has also created some new features recently, I found Smile

So what is the current state of affairs?

With kind regards,
Maarten

Hi Maarten,
I can't give you any concrete answer to your question as I'm in Canada but I did notice your signature.
When you say "new setup" I hope you mean hardware.
When I started recieving DT signals 3 yrs ago I had a P4 1.8, 512MB, an 80GB hard drive and a 64MB video card.
While watching DT my CPU would be at 80-95% usage.
I upgraded CPU and video card but forgot about power supply. POOF!! My bad.
Some of my recent one hour TS recordings vary in size from 1.5 to 7 GB.
just thought I'd give you a heads up on this if you were not already aware.

Yes, This box is old, but still up to the job in the analog world. For the digital world,I will build something new. The graphics card has never been very strong, so expecting HD-ish output will be way too much.

Thanks for the tip!

Hi Maarten,

Ziggo is no problem. The link you provide is an excellent example for setting up a card server for Ziggo, although it's easier in nextpvr than mediaportal, because of the native support for mdapi. You could also use an Alphacrypt CI cam in a floppyDTV and I believe other digital cards in combination with a CI are supported. Just start reading into the subject and ask your questions on this forum.

To take advantage of multirecording I would recommend using NewCS cardserver and Acamd softcam. However, if the smartcard has to be paired with the serial number of the receiver you'll need to use a HW CAM.

I agree and with Ziggo pairing is not the case, so go for the cardserver!

I have recently installed a dvb-c card with newcs cardserver, softcam (acamd) and a smargo for Ziggo on NPVR.
I just started a thread that channel change on the analogue card seems much slower, perhaps just a wrong setting. I don't know yet.
For the rest I think it's stable on the pc (had some issues installing though; I am thinking about posting my installation notes).
Cost me just under 120 euro (for the ziggo card, the smargo, the technisat and a connector).

I have a technisat tv-card. Two of them won't work. I read that's the same for cinergy c. So I would combine cards or take 2 other cards.
Server: Core2Duo 3,16GHz| Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit | NPVR 3.2.9 | Analogue: Hauppauge PVR-150 | Digital dvb-c: Technisat CableStar HD 2 | No plugins
Clients: Laptop Windows 7 Home 64 bit via Wifi | Android tablet via Wifi | Androidbox s89-H via Lan

The Cinergy C card works excellent, but not with a HW cam and npvr. And you cannot have two Cinergy C in the same computer.

Thanks for all the tips. What would work when I'd like two (digital) tuners in one machine? Or should I use my pvr350 as second tuner (albeit analog).

I'm running Cinergy C and Technotrend C1500 dvb-c cards in the same computer without issues. Also have a Cinergy HTC XS USB tuner working together with the rest.
