When I playback Divx or xvid in NPVR the image really stutters. Sometimes the image comes behind the sound. Thing is, the playback does not go smoothly
DVD - Bluray - recordings, live tv goes fine

Using NPVR 2.2.6 final patches with SAF6 codec on Win7 32bit platform with Corei3 CPU

If anyone experiences this....

When you play a file other than .ts, npvr just asks windows to play the file, so the codec that has the highest merit will be used. I'd try installing some oyher codec package, CCCP or KLite.

not had this problem and I have been using SAF for quite a while now. Might be worth trying to diagnose before jumping to test another codec back, given that hoborg specifically tests SAF with npvr.
I am sure he will be pleased to look into it if you upload the saf install log file from c:\ and the npvr.log from the npvr log folder that shows the playback of the problem file.

Just to make it clear, it is NOT npvr that is playing DivX/Xvid files, it is windows DirectShow, and since SAF is build on ffdshow I would not expect too much from it.

Smile Just experience, I mentioned the two that came to mind but there are other good codec packages as well out there.

If you have SAF6 installed: - START - SAF - Tools - Graphstudio. Drag and drop your video to Graphstudio and hit play - does it play correctly?
Can you try to remux your video in latest MKV merge (to eliminate possible errors in video stream)?

Simulated problem yesterday.
Posting my logs again.

Started to view the xvid at 20h57
2011-12-08 20:57:48.278 [DEBUG][1] AudioAdjust: EVENT: PLAYING_VIDEO - \\n2\KISSS\Movies\GI Joe The Rise of Cobra (2009)\G.I.Joe.Rise.Of.The.Cobra.2009.720p.BRRip.XviD.AC3-ViSiON_arc.avi

If the logs don't say more I'll try the hoborg hint.

2011-12-08 20:57:48.127 [DEBUG][1] - EVR Renderer
2011-12-08 20:57:48.127 [DEBUG][1] - LAV Audio Decoder
2011-12-08 20:57:48.127 [DEBUG][1] - ffdshow Video Decoder
2011-12-08 20:57:48.127 [DEBUG][1] - LAV Splitter

try the hoborg hint(s)

Also I notice from the UNC that you appear to be playing back from a network share. If this is on a network, try playback from internal HD to eliminate network problems.
Does it do this with non-bluray rips as well (i.e. standard def content?)
What graphics card/chipset do you have?

Why not just download the DivX and Xvid packages instead of messing around with everything else?
