Every since I updated to the most recent NPVR (2.3.6), NTray.exe hangs up when I try to shut down my computer. I get a dialog box saying "End Program - NTray.exe that I have to respond to before the computer will shut down (actually, I have to tell it to shut down again after saying ok to force Ntray.exe to terminate). Older versions of NPVR worked fine on this computer. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing NPVR several times and it does not help. I have 3 tuners and am running both GBPBR and NPVR on a WindowsXP Pro computer. Logs are attached. Any idea what might be causing this and how I might fix it?

Sorry, no. Thats a new one on me. It doesnt do this here. I cant think why it wouldn't shutdown when Window's asks it to.

Is anyone else seeing this same problem?

Thanks Sub...I figured it was unusual as I did not see anything in the forums about it.

I noticed the system tray icon simply does not work at all...it is not just shutting down that is a problem. Left or right clicks on the system tray icon do absolutely nothing and nothing pops up when I hover over it. Program runs fine if I load it using my desktop icon, but the system tray icon appears to be purely decorative at the momentWink. Any ideas with this new info? If not it is not the end of the world...I'm still using GBPVR as my main recorder/viewer as I have yet to work out decoders/renderers that play nice with NPVR on my XP machine.

might be a firewall problem preventing ntray from talking to the recording service??

'Good call. I manually added the Ntray.exe file (located in the NPVR folder of the programs directory for anyone else who might experience this problem) to Zone Alarm to grant it permission to use the network and all is goodBig Grin. I do now get a fairly anoying window called NDigitalHost Process that comes up minimized every time I boot. It contains the following message:

Quote: <Device oid="22" identifier="Conexant 2388x BDA Tuner/Demod:1">
</Device>

I'm guessing this indicates something is wrong with the way this device is setup...I'll have to pursue that later, but thought I'd bring it up in case someone knows what causes this (I'll try deleting and re-installing the device and suspect that will fix it, but let me know if you have other suggestions).

Thanks for the help!

cool.

not 100% sure what this error signifies when you see it on bootup but you might want to install the latest patches

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...arted-info

1. Remove crash pop-up message from NDigitalHost.exe to avoid Interactive Services prompt: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showthread.p...805#post428805

Do you add firewall rules for NDigitalHost too? It sounds like you are using extremely restrictive rules on your local machine/LAN.

Re-installing the tuner won't do anything. I suspect this is caused by having your NRecord service run as a regular user rather than Local System, so NDigitalHost shows up as a user process.

(though Martin may also be right that it's due to the firewall blocking NDigitalHost from completing it's startup... the window may go away once the starup completes)

The dialog box went away after another reboot (not sure why it took multiple reboots). Looks like everything was due to the firewall permissions. Thanks Guys!
