NMT/NPVR Weirdness

I have an A-100 and an A-110 on my system. Both work great with my old GBPVR server. However, when I connect to my NPVR server, the A-100 works okay, but the A-110 does not. The response to remote button presses is preposterously slow (like 20-30 seconds), the skip back (Prev) actually goes forward, and it routinely locks up (black screen requiring reset button on PCH). Other than the video format different (GB-PVR is all SD/MPEG, N-PVR is HD/TS format), are there any differences in how NPVR and GBPVR handle the NMTs? Any suggested settings for NPVR for the NMTs?

Please run the NMT syntax check with the IP of your A110 and post the results and also duplicate the problem and compress and send all the NPVR logs. You will need to set the number of MVP servers to 1 and restart the NPVR Recording services before doing this test.

In config.xml your A110 is configured as 1280x720 but you have the source set up as SD NTSC. I recommend changing that to the recommend settings explained here

Well, seeing how it's been tough to find time to reproduce this under the specified conditions, I decided to try to reduce the variables and found something.

I brought the A-110 into my office with the NPVR server and connected the two directly with an Ethernet cable. The A-110 works great like this, very responsive remote input during playback. So my guess is I have a bad/lack-luster Ethernet switch (or switches) in my system? I guess maybe it makes sense that SD playback via 10/100 switches works fine, but with HD playback I may need gigabit switches to improve the response of the NMT with the server via the remote?

No the PCH will work fine with 100Mb networks, I am pretty sure it is the NTSC issue I wrote about, you may have used a different TV.

I should have mentioned I temporarily moved the A-110 to my office for testing. The old TV in my office is NTSC, I changed the NMT config but not the NPVR settings in config.xml. I can re-run NMTchecker with the A-110 in the family room connected to the HD tv if that matters.

Ok, that is fine now so yes I will need to look at the logs. Seeking in NextPVR recordings should be more accurate with mpeg-ps files from GBPVR with Timing.Info improvements but in the worst case, when the timing file is not available, skip logic should be the same for ps and ts files. Although there can sometime be bad timelines causing some seek troubles that wouldn't be there with ps files.

Again 100Mb is plenty for broadcast HD. The A110 has a 100Mb NIC in any case. If you think it is network you could easily do a quick test by swapping your A100 for the A110.
