Does someone know if it is possible to link custom commands to the PVR350 remote?

Example: I would like to shut down the computer when I press the power-button on the remote...

If it is possible: how?
Hauppauge PVR 350 - Nova-T USB2 - Intel 2800MHz? - 512 MB RAM - Windows XP - No Mouse nor Keyboard.

I'm sure you could with Girder. You would also need to load a Hauppauge IR Remote plugin and associate the remote's power key to an OS shutdown command.

I use power button on the hauppauge remote to execute a GB-PVR link to start the program minimized. I also use the go button on the remote to start Zoom Player w/tv output. Basically it launches an Ultramon link which switches my primary display to my TV and makes my LCD secondary, launches Zoom Player on the TV so I can watch DVD's. I have multiple commands for Zoom Player programmed for the hauppauge remote via Girder; play, pause, stop, ff, rw, next chapter, previous chapter, navigation, next audio track, next subtitle, eject, exit program and so forth. When I exit Zoom Player, Ultramon restores my desktops to my default profile. I'm sure this is also possible with Nvidia's nview software, but Ultramon works so well, I don't bother messing with nview.

I don't have the hauppauge IR software loaded, GB-PVR uses direct access and the rest is controlled by girder. As long as GB-PVR and Zoom Player aren't running at the same time, there aren't any conflicts.

Hi cwills. Can you go into a bit more detail. Like the scripts you have used and the section from IRRemote etc. I want to use ZP as well.

Darx-starz,

No problem. I think I got everything I needed for plugins from girder's site, as far as the Hauppauge IR plugin, along with the Zoom Player scripts. I was using girder for external tuner control of my cable box, but I never recorded any of the digital channels and I doubt I ever will, so I went to internal coax cable tuning, so I don't know if all of my plugins are required for Zoom Player or not.

These are the plugins I have enabled within Girder:

Hauppauge IRRemote - Version 1.0 by Peter Heitman
Internet Event Client - Version 2.0 by Ron Bessems
Internet Event Server - Version 2.0a by Ron Bessems
Lua Windows Function Plugin - Version 1.5.0.0 by Michael Cumming
SendMessage - Version 1.54 by Ron Bessems
WinLUAEx - Version 1.0.11 by Mark Fiechtner

If I remember right, some of these plugins come pre-installed with girder, and just need to be enabled, some need to be downloaded, installed & enabled. I can't remember the script I downloaded for Zoom Player, so I'm just going to attach my script group to this thread and you can play with it. You will need to either open or import the .gml group file. Next, the first thing you will want to do is goto the MAIN GROUP folder, and change the Start Zoom Player & Start GBPVR commands to point to your shortcuts/executables. Look at the image below:

The ones you are looking for is like the one highlighted, not the multi-group above it that has the same name. Just click on the command, and on the right on the O.S. tab change your File: setting to find your shortcut/executable. I have mine pointing to Ultramon shortcuts, make sure you click apply after putting yours in.

Next, you can browse the two Zoom Player top level groups, and change the commands to what you need. If you don't want mine in there, just click on the event strings under the commands with + signs and delete them. These are the commands I have associated with Zoom Player functions:

Zoom Player WMV Professional - Special Commands:
Navigational Control Left - VOLDOWN
Navigational Control Right - VOLUP
Navigational Control Up - CHNLUP
Navigational Control Down - CHNLDOWN
Navigational Control Enter - OK
Navigational Control Escape - YELLOW

Zoom Player WMV Professional - Functions:
Media: Go To Previous Track|DVD: Go To Previous Chapter - SKIPREV
Media: Go To Next Track|DVD: Go To Next Chapter - SKIPFWD
Rewind Playback - REWIND
Play/Pause - PLAY
Stop - STOP
Pause - PAUSE
Play In Fast Forward - FASTFWD
Eject Selected Drive - RED
Go To The DVD's Root Menu - MENU
Go To The DVD's Title Menu - GREEN
Cycle Through Audio Tracks - BLUE
Cycle Through Subtitles - FUNC
Fullscreen Mode - FULLSCREEN
Exit Application - BACK
extdvdnumpad(0 through 9) - 0 through 9

The words on the right in caps are the commands as girder recognizes them from the Hauppauge remote, they are pretty self explanatory, blue, red, menu, etc. I don't use the Hauppauge remote, I mapped everything to a universal and use that. Once all of the plugins are installed and loaded properly, to get girder to learn a command from the remote, follow the following procedure:

Goto the command you want to change, let's say Play/Pause, then in the upper-right corner of Girder, click Learn Event. Then point your Hauppauge remote towards your IR sensor and push the button you want associated with Play/Pause(assuming Play). Girder should then add an eventstring underneath the Play/Pause command and it should now work. When you are done adding/editing commands, be sure to save the .gml file and you may want to have girder auto-launch that .gml file when it loads in Settings->General->Auto Load.

Here is my .gml file:
