Should the AMD decoder work with NPVR

I have a newer AMD video card and it has its own decoder which seems to work super fast and stable - except when I stop playback there is an unhandled exception.

Now I've never been an ATI (Now AMD) fan precisely because of crap drivers and software so I'm wondering if anyone is running the AMD decoders without issue? If so, I'll do some log and exception requester captures and see what can be figured out. I'd love it if it worked because everything is far faster with that decoder.

Oh yeah, the same issue has been there through several versions of NextPVR, it's not something new.

I used the AMD avivo codec about a month ago for a week for mpeg2 SD about a month ago as the Cyberlink HAM decoder was fantastic for H264 HD but very poor for mpeg2.
The AMD Codec had a good quality playback, but would lock up during skipping ad breaks and often would need to be resumed from the menu. I think it also required several attempts to start playback sometimes.
In the end I went back to the PDVD12 DXVA codec for both SD and HD - I think it is more forgiving when there are glitches in the transport stream.
