Just looked at The Main NextPVR pages and the wiki and then this forum...

IMHO it is so dry and dull. But I am fed up saying this. I may as well tickle a pterodactyl into life?

v best and good night here in UK

What are you wanting to change? It's almost impossible to follow your comments.

I think the forums look great, and do exactly what I need. If you try to customise too much with vbulletin you get all sorts of headaches with modified templates when you upgrade versions. Personally I'd rather not spend all my time editing vbulletin files.

Not really Sire.

It is almost impossible to follow your genius.

I asked you moons ago to get together a generic look for the main webpages/the wiki and the vbulletin /forum pages. You told me that the vbulletin software was unable to do this/out of your control...?

How can the forum's look great when there is NO VISUAL DESIGN Big Grin

Your genius is in the software but sorry to be blunt. Your visuals lay there. You do suck at other avenues...

cheers

Personally, I think it's just you that's bothered by it. I'm sure if others agree, they'll post in support of your comments.

I'm happy with the generic look of vbulletin. I know from past experience it all gets painful if you start modifying their style templates, and still hope to stay current with their regular updates. Remember this isn't a big project with a team of people taking care of the website. lol - I struggled to just change the banner, and insert the donate and wiki buttons.

Most of the forums I visit are almost identical to these forums, but with a slightly different logo in the top left. Go take a look at places like http://forum.xbmc.org/index.php, http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/, http://www.networkedmediatank.com/. They're all just using standard generic skin that came with their forum software.

Please, please. please don't cock around with the forum look as it works fine the way it is.... apart from some of the other changes that were made recently (like the Document section) after someone started poking sub with a big stick!!

I still feel the wiki (while it looks flashy now) is harder to use & has heaps of wasted space at the top... just my personal opinion.

I agree. Forums should be function other form and it works well. The blue theme is pleasing and still fits with the general aesthetic of the home pages and wiki. Oh and the title of this thread is not far from trolling imho.

In what way? I worked hard on the look AND the usability and content structure. Would be interested in any comments (maybe in a separate thread).

RE:wiki

Mainly it is all the scrolling that has to be done now to see things, which makes them appear to be less obvious at a glance, most of the actual left menu is off the bottom of the screen.

From an editing point of view the smaller width has cocked up some of my old screenshots on a 4x3 display & I find it difficult to (more difficult than it used to be) read the edit window...

ThumbnailLinkToImage can help with screenshots (http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...bleRecipes)

What do you mean by difficult to read the edit window? I'm pretty sure it's the same editor as the old wiki, just with a smaller default width. But it can be resized if you want (at least in chrome I can, not tried other browsers.).

It was just a comment as to my personal preferences not a real complaint...... I find I get a negative over all attitude to things that put flashy looks ahead of usability that probably makes other little niggles seem bigger to me than they really are.
