Well after a good few attemps..... It let me join the forum

Ok, so I grabbed the installer, run through the setup and setup and scanned my card. It seemed to pick the channels up fine. I've set folders up and just set them to "Everyone" on sercirity just to test. When I start NextPVR, it starts ok but as soon as I go for live TV I just get the windows circle spinning and have to kill the program. The PC meets the specs, I've rechecked permissions etc but it doesn't seem to like running for some reason.

System:

ASUS socket 2011 motherboard
32GB RAM
SSD OS Drive
i7 3930K
ATI 7970
Black Gold 3630 DVB S2/T2 card
Win 7 x64

I've looked in the log files but can't see anything that jumps out as obvious

Any ideas would be a big help

Thanks

reproduce the problem and post your logs. Just because you don't see anything there doesn't mean one of us who either wrote the program (sub) or who've been looking at NPVR logs for several years (me, a bunch of others) wouldn't either.. Also, just .zip the whole logs folder, don't try to guess which logs to post.

Yeah I did mate but I will double check again.

I've read through the tech help and tried the codec pack advised in there, I normally use LAV or ffdshow so no major changes on that front. I use Mediaportal and For The Record on a regular basis but wanted to give this a try again as I like the look of some of the features/plugins.

I'll check them all again though.

Did you select decoders here ...

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...n.Decoders

Select Microsoft DTV-DVD for audio and video to begin and try a SD (i.e. not HD) channel.

I've tried those settings.

It's a bit odd though, the program starts fine, I can right click and go into the settings fine. As soon as a setting is changed or I try to close the settings menu, it crashes. The crash is getting logged in Windows too but with no indepth details about why.

The program NextPVR.exe version 1.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

I expect that the guy who developed all this will be along soon. I seem to recall that there is a registry setting that will force a dump ... blah ... over my head ... sinking ...

There doesn't seem to be anything about your setup that isn't working for lots of other folk so it's worth persevering.

No problem Graham, thanks anyway.

It's probably something that's obvious but the more I stare at it, the more I'm going to miss it.

I'm a Mediaportal user trying nPVR and I experienced hanging/crashing at first, I installed the suggested .net and C++ packages which I think fixed it (iirc things improved after I uninstalled mdapi too).
