So, yesterday I ordered, from Amazon, an Antec 30123 VERIS E-Z Multimedia Station which is a cheapie remote with external IR receiver. It was only $8.. I only bought it for the receiver.
So, here's what I'd like to try.. We have a ton of old remotes lying around -- many from old TiVO boxes that have been decommissioned and we also have a pair of fully functioning SageTV remotes that came with their extenders (HD300's).. I was thinking we could use any of these to control NPVR (or XBMC should the interest arise) by fiddling around in the IR config file for Windows7.. We're not looking for anything super fancy -- just the basics -- power on/off (aka sleep), play, record, stop, volume control, channel control and the like..
So, with that in mind, do you think I'm doomed to failure or is this just a matter of fiddling with the config file for the remote once we get it in my hands or perhaps using EventGhost if needed? Thanks!
