Custom Tasks Problem

I'm having an odd problem with Custom Taks which I'm hoping someone might be able to explain. I have set up a custom task to launch Power DVD in full screen mode. When I execute this custom task from GBPVR on my PC it launches Power DVD in full screen as expected. However, when I execute the same custom task through my MVP, Power DVD launches in windowded mode on the PC. I have also set up a custom task to launch Windows Media Player. Again through the PC it launches as expected but through the MVP I get a Windows Media Player install wizard displaying on the PC. Maybe I'm just doing something stupid. Any input appreciated.

What are you trying to do? You wont be able to see the output of a custom task on the MVP.

When you run these types of tasks, the run on the PC and wont be visible on the MVP. They also run as a different user account, which may be why you see the setup wizard.

thanks for the fast response. You must never sleep. I know my question is a bit odd. I am aware that the custom task wil appear on the PC. However, I have hooked the TV out from my graphics card to the s-viseo input on my PVR250. I have also configured a capture source to see the s-video input. I can then select this channel as a live TV channel on the MVP. As for why I'd want to this it's a way to view DVDs or DIVX recordings on the MVP. It's not an elegant solution but it actually works not witstanding the full screen mode issue. When you say the tasks launch as a different user do you think it's possible to set parameters such as full screen mode for the account the tasks are run under? I dont know. If the program you're trying to use pops up any first-time-use windows, try going through the process. Hopefully this will only happen the first time.

and how do you plan to control playback of this external player?

this is more of half baked notion than a plan. In terms of a DVD I have saved playlists of the movies VOB files excluding menus, extras etc. When Power DVD laucnhes it simply plays the playlist. I won't have any control over playback other than the controls you have built into to LIVE TV such as pause etc. As I said earlier not an elegant solution but might be sufficient for my needs. Thanks for your feedback. If it pans out I'll let you know. If it doesn't lets pretend I never started this thread.
