2008r2 problem

Hi All,

Any assistance warmly welcomed!

I'm a server guy, so I have put VMware on my tiny HP Microserver. Have been running Win2003 on it with my Kworld DVBT UB499-2T USB DVB stick and all has worked really well.

Win2003 will expire in a few years and I also want to get more experience with 2008, so I loaded up a new VM with 2008r2.

I managed to get the hardware drivers sorted out, but then npvr didnt see the stick.

Then I found a post on this forum telling me that there were no BDA drivers in 2008 - so I went to the following link to get some http://www.win2008workstation.com/forum/...=22&t=1023

Now I could see the stick in Npvr.

But... I cant scan for channels...

The log files seem to indicate that there is no MPEG2 filter or similar? I've attached in case anyone is able to have a quick look and help me out...

It is a mpeg2 demultiplexer you are missing. It usually comes with video converters and other video processing programs, but you can google for it, I'm sure there is a free download somewhere.

It would be surprising if the MSI file at the link you gave does not include the Microsoft MPEG-2 Demultiplexer, without which NPVR won't work. I did find at least one post suggesting that something further is needed: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post445933

Hrmm - Thought I replied, but perhaps I hadnt logged in properly?

So - Thanks for the advice - the mpeg demultiplexer was installed (I think it might come with directx?), I tried to re-register the service and then NPVR couldnt even start the cards!

I then followed the advice from the linked forum post and ran the bda script to copy files from my laptop, then copied them from to the server and it worked! For info, my locale is set to en-gb, but the files were found in en-us. I copied them to both of the locations just in case!

All working though - the better memory management seems to improve things when updating the EPG, which could have issues on 2003 (32 bit) although thats just a theory!
