I can't understand the GBPVR's scheduled recording service as if my computer goes due to long idle period into standby or hibernation, GBPVR could wake it to start its jobs. When I force computer into Standby or hibernation (via Logoff menu or rundll32), GBPVR couldn't wake it, why?
--- GBPVR system ---
Server: homemade (ASUS MB, AMD x2 5200+, 4G RAM, 3.2TB RAID5, 1Gbit) + DVB-T Hauppauge HVR1300 (h264 TS) + IPTV
Clients: ASUS Pundit-R (P4 3.2GHz Northwood!, 1G RAM, zero HDD - netboot, WinLIRC to use Hauppauge remote on system without Hauppauge devices) + IBM ThinkPad T42 (pvr over 802.11g) + FSC N560 WM6 (802.11g) + etc Smile

I'm not sure why it does that either, but I've found that if you set Windows to hibernate after a certain amount of time (for example, 15 mins) and let it hibernate all by itself (i.e. don't force it), GBPVR will wake itself up later to do its thing.

If you force it yourself, it doesn't wake up. Don't know why though.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure gbpvr can wake my computer whenever I put it into hibernate via the logoff menu.

hibernate, does this mean that the computer powers down after storing the memory state to the harddisk? Or does it mean that the computer is still running, but in a different state?

for me, it would be excellent to be able to "shut up", in other words power off, the computer in periods where it doesn't record or update itself, because it is a bit noisy for my living room.

Hi. Hibernate and standby are not the same thing. gbpvr will not wake from hibernate. Only standby. Set your bios so that when you hit power it sets the PC to standby. Also, set your power settings to standby after say 30 mins.

Hibernate = save running processes and power off
Standby = save running processes and go into low power mode.

It is usual to set the bios to stanby to RAM and not disk these days as the restore is much faster.

However, there are drawbacks to standby. If the power is interupted, the standby status is lost. Hibernate does not lose the current proccesses.

I use hibernate on my system, and gbpvr wakes it whenever needed.

Edited; I realized I sounded more obnoxious than I intended to =)
