Hi, I am just wondering if there is any way so far to easily include the year of release in the filename. This to to set apart movies that have similar or common names, but different release years.

So perhaps there might be some way I could take the existing format, which by the way I really like:

Movie Name_YYYYMMDD_HHMMHHMM

and do something like this:

Movie Name (YYYY)_YYYYMMDD_HHMMHHMM
(where "(YYYY)" = year of release, or first four digits of XML "original_air_date")

So far I have discovered <StoreSeparateMetadataXml> and tried setting it to "true". That at least gives me a way to get at the XML "description" after the files have been relocated and the entries removed from the database, as I find them useful.

I could presumably also do the same with the year, but it would be even better just to have it in the filename.

Thanks
Chris

you can rename after the fact with imageGrabLite: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...eGrabLite; configuration example #2 would be the one you want, in PostProcessing.bat.

Okay, that worked out. It is nice that it also renames the XML file (as covered in prior posts), but now it looks like I might have a new issue. I was hoping to also keep the time range at the end of the file name. In particular, the "HHMMHHMM" part.

Since I am using a cable STB for the time being, it goes blank sometimes in the middle of the night to load its own TV Guide. To narrow down instances where that might happen, I have been using the "HHMMHHMM" part of the original filename format to positively identify any recordings made in the middle of the night. I then open just those in VideoRedo and run Ad Detective to locate any potential problem areas.

Without the "HHMMHHMM" part of the filename, I could use the Windows time stamp, but that might accidentally change if I am not very careful.

The Windows date created normally would be pretty static

Without any commercials, I would be editing off the beginning and end of each movie at the very least. I am finding out that the nice thing about a filename is that the info contained in it can be persistent across an unlimited number of edits. I only started thinking about how useful these bits of info are earlier today, so I'll see if there is something I can do. In the long run, the production year will stay and the timestamp will get deleted by me. It will only be important for the short term.

Maybe I could just modify the structure of how I do things, such as drag the late night movies into a special folder and work on them separately, keeping them isolated until they are all validated.

Okay, I have been using the imageGrabLite example #2 (as Johnsonx42 originally suggested) for a while now and it seems to work for me. I have about 400 movies so far which I am reconciling with my own database of about 2500 entries, which happens to be generated from IMDB results. In most cases the names and dates match right up in ExamDiffPro. There are some exceptions however. The most common are that the date might be off by one year. Also there are enough other slight variations, enough that I am going in to do a significant amount of rework. But that is just because I am playing catch-up right now. Normally it would be smaller numbers at a time. If I could use IMDB instead then it would be perfect for me, but overall it works out good.

I built logic in genreLite utility to change the movie year in npvr.db3 to the IMDB year, http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...enre-Maker but I couldn't find enough justification to do it. Run it and see what years it pick up for your "bad" ones and I should be able help

Thanks! I will try it out as soon as I get the time.
