Is there any way to use the episode info as the recording's filename rather than the date and a bunch of other numbers? I use NPVR to download sports and usually the info for the game will be really short for example "Eels vs Sea Eagles". This would be perfect for the filename of the recording if it's at all possible.

Thanks !

EDIT** I guess I should let you know that the "episode info" I'm talking about is coming from the mc2xml microsoft EPG.

You need the utility called Imagegrablite.
You can find details on the wiki (link at top of this page) and there are posts about it in the 3rd party add-ons forum.

Oh... From what I read earlier about imagegrablite was that it uses tvdb and other sites to get metadata (which won't work for sports). Is that wrong? I just need to take the info that is somewhere already on my pc and put it in the filename. I'll look more into it.

Thanks!

The --subtitle option is the one you are looking for but I am not sure if it avoids going to thetvdb

It seems that using --subtitle and --rename ends up with the same result for most things that I tried... In both instances it creates a movie.nfo file and doesn't actually rename the file. Any ideas? Should I move my questions over to the ImageGrabLite thread?

Will imagegrablite work on a recording you manually cancel? I'd like to test it without recording a half hour show each time but it doesn't seem to work if I manually delete the timer.

EDIT** I must've done something wrong... Now it does nothing.

My PostProcessing.bat script is --oid %3 --subtitle
I have also tried --oid %3 --subtitle --zap2it
and --oid %3 --subtitle --zap2it --live
and all of these combinations using --rename instead of subtitle

Like I said, it was at least doing something before... Now it does nothing.

I got it to work exactly how I wanted it for one show (took all day.. haha). But, looking through the logs, I might be crazy but is it possible that all those times it didn't work it is stopping because the title of the show has an invalid character?

Read Error ' ', hexadecimal value 0x1F, is an invalid character. Line 27298, position 86

Then nothing after that.

That seems to be what the problem was... I downloaded TurboPad to see what line I was on in the Users/Public/NPVR/Plugins/searchlite/series/SHOW.xml for the show... scrolled down to Line 27298 and sure enough there was a weird bold US symbol there... Deleted it and then made a quick recording of the same show and renaming worked perfectly...

By the way for anyone new like me who is reading this and wondering how to test imagegrablite without recording full shows every time just duplicate your PostProcessing.bat file and name the new one PostCancel.bat that way you only have to record a 30 second clip and cancel it and it'll run imagegrablite. It took me a while to figure out that PostProcessing does not work on cancelled recordings.
