This usb tuner had been collecting dust at my place for quite some time so I figured I'd fire it up using NextPVR. However, NPVR only shows me the BDA tuner and not the analog tuner. Back in the day this wasn't a problem for me since there were BDA broadcasts but not anymore.
Followed these instructions: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...alogDevice
Tried adding every possible combo to AnalogDevice.xml, but the analog tuner won't show up. I am probably making a n00bish mistake, so can someone take a peek at the attached FilterCheck log. You will have my eternal gratitude Smile

For the quick response before the knowledgeable arrive, did you install the hauppauge softpvr portion? http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ugeSoftPVR

I thought that there was need of an cd but apparently I can not read:
Code:
Option 2

For those that don't want to install the full Hauppauge WinTV suite or have lost their original CD

Let me give it a shot.

Edit: that did the trick! Thank you @jghanisco!

Edit 2: Posted too soon. Tuner get's recognized now and can scan for channels. However, when trying to watch live tv I got an temp directory error. Easily fixed by making a Temp folder in C:\. Now I get an "unable to find available capture device" error

What was the entry you added to AnalogDevices.xml? I'll add it to the master file.

I see this entry in nPVR ASUS U3000 Hybrid BDA Analog Capture (Dev1 Path2)

So I think it is this addition:
Code:
<Device filter="ASUS U3000 Hybrid BDA Analog Capture (Dev1 Path2)">
        <Name>ASUS U3000 Hybrid</Name>
        <Type>SOFT_ENCODE</Type>
    </Device>

If I remove this device it disappears. However, something still is not right, I can't watch TV. See my post above yours.

Edit: The plot thickens, I can listen to radio with this addition.

Edit 2: Could it be that I need an MPEG2 decoder? MPEG2 Video decoder is disabled and I can't select anything (W8.1 x64). Googled MPEG2 decoder but couldn't find one that fast.

Yes, you'll need an MPEG2 video decoder.

I'll hold off adding your device to the master file until you confirm its working correctly.

After installing LAV Filters, I can watch TV albeit switching channels is a bit slow. Thanks @sub!

In general LAV video decoders should be avoided in NextPVR. I have always found Cyberlink and ffdshow to be the most reliable although MPEG2 will have to be enabled in the ffdshow setup as its disabled by default.

Many of us use SAF. Send a forum private message to Hoborg and ask for the unlocked version http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post414049

From what I understand of it ffdshow is officially dead: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=...ost1602357. LAV filters is a continuation of vanilla ffdshow. Did not encounter any reliability issues yet using LAV, however channel switching is slow and image quality is bad.
Is there an W8.1 version of the Cyberlink mpeg2 decoder? On their site I can only find one for XP or Vista.

Interesting, I will definately take a look at this! Especially since hoborg mentions this:
hoborg Wrote:Hi.
I am speekeing about combination LiveTV (MS demultiplexer) + FFDShow MPEG2&H.264 decoder.
According to my experience, this will introduce some issues, like slow channel change, bad picture quality, instability, deinterlacing issues, etc...
In NPVR, my best experience is MS VIDEO decoder for LiveTV (Win7 x64) + Intel HD4000 GPU. No problem at all on my HTPC.
