Hi.

Will be possible to add XySubFilter subtitles pin support (EVR) ?

I don't think it's of any use for playback of the types files I explicitly build graphs for (ie .ts files), so you're probably dependent on Windows automatically using it for whatever of other types files you're trying to play.

Is there some specific thing you wanted done that wouldn't involve me trying to manually build graphs for other file types? I don't really want to get into trying to manually build graphs for other file types since I don't ship with components like decoders and splitters for these types of files, and I'd be very dependent on users downloading and installing third party components.

I haven't used this subtitle filter though, so know next to nothing about it. If you think there is some small change in NextPVR that would improve it's usability, let me know what you think is needed.

Hi sub.

I am just looking for a way how to render hi quality subtitles (from MKV container, etc...) undepended on video resolution.
Right now, i am using FFDshow to resize video then render subtitles. But FFDshow is dying slowly, outdated and crashing on some files.
I would like to use LAV Video decoder on that files with DXVA copy back, but then i need subtitles filter.
If i use regular DirectVobSub, subtitles quality are really bad on low res videos.
I saw a working solution XySubFilter + MadVR and results are great.
If i set MadVR as video renderer in NextPVR, there are issues like not working AR, video bar is not hiding, etc...
I do not known how MadVR render these subtitles, but it will accept subtitles pin provided by XySubFilter, but NextPVR EVR renderer does not.

I'm probably not going to be able to help with MadVR, since I've never been able to get it working as well as the other renders, but if you can post some examples of what the graphs look like with XySubFilter + EVR, I'll see if there is anything I think I can do without resorting to manually building graphs. For example, I do manually add the renderer to the graphs prior to letting directshow choose which other filters to use, so I can do some minor configuration on the renderer etc (like mixing mode, allowing multiple input pins, which may be a factor if this subtitle filter is parallel to the video decoder vs inline with the video decoder)

Here are some screenshots, but i doubt they can help much:

Yeah, unfortunately they don't seem to be using a second video renderer pin, which I thought they would. Does that EVR graph work fine? If so, I can imagine directshow would already make graphs like that in NextPVR.

So is there something specific you're wanting me to do? I'm not really seeing anything specific I should be doing.

The Npvr+EVR graph? Video play fine, but no subtitles at all :/

Does that graphedit graph above with EVR work (in graphedit)?

Nope, "normal" EVR will not read data from XySubFilter, but EVR-CP (from MPC-HC) can.

It sounds like a fairly severe shortcoming of this subtitle renderer if wont work with any standard video renderers.

I'm guessing "EVR-CP" is a customer presenter. So in effect, MPC-HC with EVR-CP is doing all the drawing of video frames itself (using direct3d) instead of using EVR's standard frame presentation, and they would have added all sorts of special logic for adding the subtitle graphics. To be honest, that's sounding like it'd be a hell of a lot of work to create the same type of custom presenter. ie, several weeks of work, and shitload of code. Its unlikely I could commit this sort of effort into the playback of files that NextPVR itself is not even recording. It may even be highly dependent on custom stuff they're doing, requiring code from those projects (to talk to the XySubFilter to collect subtitle frame information etc), and the GPL licence makes it a non-starter.

Your original one-liner request was making it sounds like you were after something smaller.
