I've been using GBPVR and now NPVR for a few years. Currently running v 3.2.9 on Win7. Recently, I've had a lot of my recorded TV shows freeze on playback for about 30 seconds, then return to the NPVR menu. "Resume" doesn't work after a freeze up. It starts playback at the end of the recording. I restart playback at the beginning, skip through the "bad" spot and can watch more. Sometimes, it's only one spot in a recording. In some cases, it happens several times over the course of a recording.

I've read through the forum postings that others have noticed this behavior, but haven't seen any definite solutions. I've already tried different decoders. I cannot think of any event or change in configuration that would have caused this to start happening within the past few months.

This morning, I deleted all my old logs so the current log would only capture this event. Is there anything new I could try? Log attached.

I used to get much the same symptoms. For me, it was caused by dodgy reception of over the air broadcasts. I can't see anything in the log to show the tuner device you are using so it may not be relevant to check splitters and cables into the tuner.

I've had this problem in the distant past that was caused by a "green" hard drive that kept putting itself to sleep even though NPVR was obviously still reading from it. That tended to cause more of a hard lockup in my case though, rather than just a (long) pause.

In case of recordings with badspots, many of them can be rescued usig TSDoctor. Requires manual work so best solution is to eliminate the problem itself.

Because I had trouble configuring when I upgraded to Win7 (poor choice of decoder on my part), I checked all tuners, splitters, cables and connectors. All tested out fine and I had a few months of good quality before this playback problem started.

Does the log indicate a bad spot in the recording? I don't know how to interpret the info contained in the log.

Hard to say, the decoder does not log anything in npvr's log. You could try the trial version of TSDoctor and let it analyze oe of the problem recordings.
