I know this issue has been talked about repeatedly, but I've been using a workaround (restarting NextPVR on client) to solve the issue and I figure I would ask the question if anyone can see the problem.

Specs:
This issue happens across the LAN and http connections are not involved and there are no multiple clients involved.
3.2.9 on both client and server - no additional plugins anywhere
Win8 (server), Win7 (client)
Colossus fed with a Directv box via HDMI for both video and audio on server. The Directv box is set to always output at 720p (no native)
No firewalls anywhere

I launch the client and everything looks and works great for a while. After a while, the client will freeze and requires a restart of NPVR (on client) to get back in business. What I've noticed is that the freezes seem to occur during commercial breaks and rarely, if ever, during the show itself.

I have attached the NPVR log from the client and the Nrecord log from the server right after the freeze. In anticipation of recording the logs with the freeze I deleted all the log files before starting the process, so they should only reflect the start of NPVR, the client working and then the client freezing.

Add'l notes:
The network connection works flawlessly for remoting in (UltraVNC) and transferring/playing anything from the server, so I don't believe that is the cause.
Recordings them selves always seem to be flawless (I never watch live TV on the server, so I'm not sure if that works flawlessly or not)

UPDATE: Success ( I believe)

I uninstalled and reinstalled on both the client and server.
I looked with a skeptical eye at HDMI for both audio and video and changed it up to HDMI (video) and Optical (audio).
Turns out, when I moved the "LiveTV" folder on the server off of a SSD and onto a hard drive, the freezing seems to have stopped. I don't understand why, and others may probably already know this, but ...

So far, so good.

Unfortunately I was incorrect about my problem being solved. The client continues to freeze after a period of time. I deleted the logs, started the client and waited for the freeze. I have attached the NPVR log from the client and the Nrecord log from the server.

At 10:39, I started the client
The client plays flawlessly
At 10:56, the client freezes (once again, during a commercial)

I check the NPVR (client) log and it shows:

2014-10-09 10:56:34.749 [DEBUG][1] Client about to request renewal of handle: 140002
2014-10-09 10:56:38.520 [DEBUG][1] GetEventCode() returned: 0x0003
2014-10-09 10:56:38.540 [DEBUG][1] GetEventCode() returned: 0x0001
2014-10-09 10:56:44.801 [DEBUG][1] Client about to request renewal of handle: 140002

This "GetEventCode" always accompanies the freeze. As you can see in the log, the client log continues to have entries until 11:02 when I close it.

What's odd about this is that if I use NEWA (across the LAN) and I click on "View Live", the playing window opens and never freezes (I've let it run for over 2 hours with no freeze). I'm pretty ignorant, but what that tells me is that the problem does not lie with the capture card, the connection to the dtv box, the server itself or the network. For some reason, the NPVR client freezes and NEWA does not.

I've tried to research the issue, but the closest I can make out is that it's not supposed to happen with 3.2.9 or it's a sign that the server stopped recording, which I don't understand. Perhaps if someone could help me understand what that "GetEventCode" is telling me I could continue troubleshooting.

BTW, the Colossus is now connected HDMI (video), Optical (audio) and the box still outputs everything at 720p.
