I'm trying to figure out the best options for playing back a recording in progress. In all cases, when I've tried, it stops playback once it reaches the amount of time i started the recording from -- i.e., I i started at 10 minutes into a 1 hour recording, after ten minutes playback ends even though there is another 10 minutes of video.

I've tried both Direct and Timeshift modes. I increased the Pre-buffer to the max. None of these had any effect.

I saw on another post about sharing the time shift folder on the NextPVR server, but I didn't see where I set this in the configuration options for X-NEWA.

Right, for in-progress recordings (not live-tv) X-NEWA needs to read directly from a local drive or share. On a remote machine if you have NextPVR record to a drive using \\ip\share notation it should be automatic on all clients, otherwise you need to use XBMC's path substitution in advancedsettings.xml.

Code:
<pathsubstitution>
  <substitute>
    <from>D:\media\tvrecordings\</from>
    <to>smb://shareip/sharename/</to>
  </substitute>
</pathsubstitution>

Martin,

Thanks. What streaming mode should I be in for this to work?

It doesn't matter for recordings that mode is for LiveTV only.

I tried Direct mode and it seems to be working now that I've changed the recording directory from a drive letter to a share.

Thanks!

Great, by default Direct mode only works for me with my HDHR, it is an example of live tv bypassing NextPVR should anyone want that. It falls back to Native mode though.

Yep, this is on a HVR-2250. I have a Colossus as well, but until my USB UIRT comes in, I won't be able test since verizon disabled my firewire port for channel changing.
