I have just installed the Hauppauge Colossus capture card and i get the error message that npvr can not communicate with the capture device.
Here are the details
The card shows up under settings/devices. It says it is enabled. on the device identification page the input source is HDMI and HDMI Audio input
I imported EPG from the TVGUIDE.xml (the same that was used from the card I was using).
I even selected "update to current settings" command to see if that would help but it didn't.
The only thing I haven't done is make changes to the channel changer settings. it seems to be all configured except for the "arguments" field.

So what am I missing? I would appreciate some assistance.
thanks

You'll need to reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the npvr.log and nrecord.log.

It looks like it's looking for a Hauppauge PVR card, but it's drivers are no longer present on your machine.

If you can visit the Settings->Devices screen, and post the npvr.log, I'll be able to check what devices are currently installed in the machine.

Here is the log files.
I will also say that I had a wintv 150 in the computer along with the colossus card. I removed it as I wasn't planning on using it in this computer.

PS thanks for getting the web site back on line.

That was your problem in the logs you posted. ie, trying to watch a channel on a device not present in the machine.

Having visited the devices screen now, it probably now recognises the 150 is no longer there, so shouldn't try to access it. Try to access a channel that is definitely available on your Colossus. If it doesn't go, post the logs again.

so i started the epg and nothing showed there so I brought up the channel guide for the HD card and picked the channel by STB was tuned to.

still received the same error message

Also would the lack of having any thing on the EPG be a related issue?

Is your recording service actually running? That looks like the same nrecord.log as last time, showing the same attempt to use your PVR 150. (and a client error saying it couldn't talk to the service. Maybe try rebooting if you haven't since then.

kdsm,

Having run hauppauge for years in some form or another (HDPVR also). I might make a suggestion, computers seem to hate it when you swap out hauppauge cards! There is a program out there called hwclear if I remember correctly (from Hauppauge) for removing all traces of drivers etc. from old cards. I think you may find it on the install cd for the colossus.

I would suggest removing the colossus
run the hwclear to get rid of all previous drivers and software
reinstall the colossus & its related drivers Then the related software
Test the colossus with the software that came with it
then set it up in npvr

I'm working from memory here... past card changing problems

I will try all your suggestions this week (maybe tonight) and get back to you on the outcome.

Thanks
