I just got a Gigabyte Brix to play with. I'm trying to configure it as a client. Unlike my other boxes, I installed WIN 7 Home Basic 64-BIT in this one.
My other machines are all 32-bit versions.

Problem now is I can't get around the error message:
"The DirectX runtime is not available.......".

In desparation I've installed both C++ 2008 and C++2010 runtimes; 64-bit versions.
(I even tried installing the 32 bit versions along side the 64 bit versions)

I ran the JUN_2010 DirectX 9.0c resdistr. too.
(how can I tell if it installed the 32 or 64 bit version? does it matter?)

Still can't get rid of the error.

Logfile:

Check for updated video card drivers. And it's the 32bit C++ runtimes that you need.

do you have msvcp100.dll somewhere? when 3.1.1 came out that was the missing piece for some people so I included it in one of the patch updates back then. Since then I thought sub added it to the installer, as the problem seemed to have gone away after 3.2.9.

thanx for the help guys.
I think Whurlston hit the nail on the head; I missed the graphics driver update when I first fired up the Brix.

When around Christmas I did a clean new install of W7 64 on my new replacement server I do remember that the NextPVR automatic install of DiectX didn't actually work properly, it downloaded the files but never ran the setup for them..... I ended up having to go for the full install (linked on the wiki) & even then it didn't auto run the setup so I had to find where the damn thing extracted to in whatever/temp & run the setup manually then all was well

The wiki is obsolete. NextPVR (Unmanaged) needs VS 2011 runtime http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/...x?id=30679 and SlimDX needs 2010 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/...x?id=26999

Yeah.... I'm now, after posting that, having second thoughts as to what it actually was that didn't install by itself (the having to find it in temp etc. to run the setup that came with it is still what I had to do to get it working)..... but I feel my illness has set in today & is screwing up my memories..... so I'm now not sure what part it was that actually didn't work all by itself....

I saw SlimX mentioned in my error log; what is it?

Martin, thanx.
I did try Google first, but I didn't have the spelling (SlimX, missed the "D") correct.
