I have fought a NPVR install (3.5.7) on a W10 laptop for couple of days now. I finally gave up trying to use xmltv and went with the paid epg, and so my epg now actually works (at least, it does today). I now have a couple of vexing issues:
1. If I make the display full-screen, I cannot find any way to return to "small screen". ESC doesn't work, there does not seem to be anything in the menu that does this, all I can do is exit and re-start, which is a drag.
2. I cannot find any way to skip/ff/rewind when viewing a recording. CTRL-Q works to pause/resume, but that is about it. If I move my mouse over the playback screen so that the playback timeline shows up, and then click a bit further down the timeline to force playback to skip forward, the playback pauses briefly, then I get a message that says, "This recording was watched to completion (which is totally untrue!) Would you like to delete this recording?" CTRL-right arrow gives the same result. It is almost as if trying to skip forward pushes the time marker to the end of the recording, or something like that.

I have seen some posts that indicate that the video renderer may impact this. If so, in which way? Is there a preferred video renderer? I'm was using EVR, then I tried MadVR, and that allowed the CTRL-F key combination to work, but I lost the timeline strip at the bottom. Also, CTRL-R doesn't work, nor do the CTRL-arrow keys.
I am almost there, after losing WMC, and finding that Kodi won't work with my older Silicondust network tuner. NextPVR seems to be the one that should work, but holy cow! I'm a fairly competent geek, but this is kicking my butt!

You can press Alt-Tab to toggle between window/fullscreen mode.

When you're viewing a recording, is it reporting the correct duration in the timeline?

You shouldn't have to do this. Just stick with the default EVR renderer. MadVR will definitely cause problems.

This sounds like it might be a long-standing HDHomeRun issue: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post457164

However recent versions of the SiliconDust software reportedly don't have the Other: ATSC/QAM setting, so we may need an alternative solution.

BTW I believe the keyboard command sub was thinking of is actually Alt-Enter.

As far as I can tell, the timeline looks correct (i.e. a half-hour program shows 32 minutes).

You shouldn't have to do this. Just stick with the default EVR renderer. MadVR will definitely cause problems.

Another poster (Zeb) mentioned something about HDHomerun using a different setting. Unfortunately, my HDHomerun configuration only gives me these choices (in the BDA compatibility mode setting): Default, Easy HD TV DVR, For the Record, J River Media Center, Media Portal, NextPVR, and Windows Media Center.
I'll try some of these and see what happens, unless you know right off the bat which should work.

The NextPVR setting should work.

There has been some people that had reported problems with it set to NextPVR, but I've never been able to reproduce the problem.

OK, I went back to NextPVR in HDHomerun setup; selected EVR, and also ran the Windows "Troubleshoot compatibility" app, and after its analysis, tried NPVR, and although the operation is very "stuttery" in FF, at least it sort of works. Using CTRL-arrow also requires a CTRL-P to start playback again, and the playback stutters before going to normal speed. Still a work in progress, I think. Perhaps W10 is the overall issue, but not sure.

No, Win10 should be fine. In fact, I'm doing the NextPVR development on Win10 these days.

What video decoder are you using? Probably worth reproducing this stuttering, then post the npvr.log.

Is this only a live tv issue? ie, if you do a recording, does the file playback smoothly?

I'm using EVR as the renderer, and LAV video decoder. The "stutter" to which I refer may not be the best term. If I do a CTRL-right arrow, the systems seems to skip ahead, but then seems to stall until I repeat the CTRL-arrow key combo. A similar thing happens if I use the mouse on the timeline. One click seems to start the process, but playback stalls, then if I click again, playback resumes at the new time point. Maybe that is how it is supposed to work, I haven't found any info that explains the operation completely.
At any rate, having selected W7 compatibility, it seems to be doing OK, at least it's not hanging up as before.

@sub - Oh, and I forgot to answer your question, this has always been on a recorded program. I got the EPG working , and it records and seems to play back very nicely as long as you are not skipping/FF'ing.
