I have Extended and Prime tuners on my network. I have 2 pc's with Tv's running Kodi/NextPVR. If one pc is watching a channel on one tuner all is well. When the other pc goes to watch a channel on either tuner, the other pc gets kicked off with a NextPVR tuner connection is lost message. Any ideas how many fix this problem? Many thanks.

I just tried to reproduce this, and it worked fine. You'll need to post the logs showing the scenario.

Best to restart the recording service to reset the logs, then reproduce this within a couple of minutes, so that there isn't too much log to wade through.

Sub: Does the Extend use the BDA driver access method or the Prime access method? If it is the BDA, then the locking mechanisms are different (correct?). So I'm thinking that jcfaber1 may want to test with only 1 type of tuner at a time.

No, it doesn't use the BDA drivers. It does allow multiple clients to watch the currently tuned channel though.

In this case though, I don't think he's talking about that though. It sounds like he has multiple tuners set up.

You forgot to zip and attach the logs. Zip the entire logs directory.

Lets see If I can get it right! In addition, if I may, I am considering setting up a server for NPVR where the two PC's could store all of the content in a single space. Is there any guidance on this type of setup?
Thanks

Can you clarify - are you talking about when another client tries to access a tuner through your NextPVR server, or are you talking about another client directly accessing a HDHR tuner (ie, not via NextPVR server)?

Present situation: 2 PC's having 2 complete installs of Kodi,NextPVR. Both installs are using HDHomerun Prime and Extended tuners. ( these 2 PC are sharing the 2 tuners) I do not have a NextPVR server.

Future : Would I be better off setting up a NPVR Server?

Yes, you'd be better off having one install of NextPVR and both Kodi clients connecting to it. (If you really wanted to have to installs of NextPVR, you should dedicate certain tuners to each install)

NextPVR really needs to be able rely on how many tuners are available. ie, if you've got 3 tuners set up, it's going to allow your to schedule recordings on 3 different freqeuncies at the same time. If at recording time a tuner is being used by some other PC, you're going to get failed recordings etc.
