From the time I updated to ver. 4.0.4, I had problems with playback - video/audio sync, live TV, recordings, EPG video not starting, video hanging after skip. I downloaded numerous patches. Each one either made no difference, solved one problem but created another or just created a new problem. I installed a recent patch for the NPVRTSReader4.ax. After that the video playback displayed was pixelated at the bottom. I decided to install an older version of the patch. At the same time I updated to the K-Lite 13.5.8 LAV codecs. To my amazement, when I started to playback video, NEXTpvr worked without a problem. I am now running NEXTpvr on 2 machines using LAV codecs for audio and video. Recording and playback are working without a problem.

I am uploading the patched files I am using. Maybe this will work for you.

Ive had problems with hanging after a skipping and tried the various updated files but still hangs.
Just tried your combination and it seems to work fine - fingers crossed.

Thanks

I have been running this configuration for 4 days without a problem.

I use Comskip to remove commercials. It seems to be working better than any time in the past with this setup.

Update: I live in a fringe OTA signal area. I am seeing playback problems on OTA channels with weak signals. I use comskip to mark and skip commercials. If the signal is too weak, the recording will freeze at a skip point during playback, sometimes causing NextPVR to crash. As long as the signal is strong enough, I am having no problems with live TV or recorded playback.

We keep waiting for a v4.05 that would resolve all the hanging/freezing with live TV occurring in 4.04 since July. Does sub endorse this workaround or is a fixed version coming soon?

I posted this information because this combination of 4.0.4 patched files worked better for me than any other combination I had used. I thought it might be of use to others as a temporary fix. You would need to contact sub for the answer to your question.

I'm not necessarily in a 'fringe' area but I am 30 -35 miles from the transmitters spread out over a 45 degree arc. So I have problems with bad weather(storms and wind) and airplanes. It's not that I get weak signals, I get signal's that will go weak to non existent and then snap back to strong. I have been playing back recordings for 6 years now and MPC-HC and WMP are my go to players in that order. Just about everything is designed with the assumption of a perfect stream. Well OTA streams(broadcasts) are not perfect. They are going to have glitches and most of the existing software out there do not handle glitches well. The above mentioned players are best at handling glitches. If MPC crashes then I fall back to WMP. This gives me a 98% chance of a successful play back. Note: I do not cut commercials as I am a watch once and delete(60 second skip is your friend).

Similar situation in terms of distance from transmitters. I have spent a lot of time tuning comskip. I get very good commercial skipping on most of the shows I watch. I like the whole NextPVR setup for live and recorded video. I have a dedicated PC connected to my TV and I use ROKU for streaming. I use Logitech Hub to control NextPVR and ROKU and switch inputs for TV and ROKU.

For the avoidance of doubt ... NextPVR uses WMP to play recordings and videos. NextPVR uses the decoders specified in NextPVR Settinsg --> Decoders when playing recordings and uses the WMP default decoders when playing Videos. Apologies if I am stating the bleedin' obvious.

I do not want to get into a war of words with you, but I have had files that WMP can play that NextPVR chokes on. IMHO it's the error handling.
