I've got a Twinhan DVB-T and I'm running GB-PVR with the BDA drivers. I've finally got the card set up ok and I can view all the channels/change channel etc through live tv. However whenever I do a manual recording it says that it has recorded fine, during the recording the GB thingie goes green, and it is properly listed in the 'ready' section of the recordings. However when I go to watch the recording it plays approx the first 2 seconds (which tend to be very jumpy) of the video and then completely stops - has anybody any ideas what can be causing this. I have tried recording whilst using the cyberlink and the intervideo software decoders but both come up with identical results. Any ideas? Help much appreciated.

I'm getting confused as to the differences between filters and decoders but on the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility my installed MPEG-2 decoders are listed as IVIVIDEO.AX version 4.0.11.250, CLVSD-~1.AX version 3.5.0.3629 (Cyberlink DTV Video Decoder) and CLVSD.AX version 5.0.0.2121 (Cybelrink Video/SD Decoder). Is there any utility I should be using to keep track of all the codecs/filters etc? I installed a codec pack ages ago and have since uninstalled it but how would I know if there is left over crap on the system? Your help is always appreciated!

Decoders are only used during playback, and not really relevant to your problem (codec packs typically only install decoders).

What is the likely cause is you mux filter. This is used during recording and is responsible for taking a separate video and audio stream and combining them in to a single 'program stream' which is what most people know as an MPEG2 file.

I dont know of a tool that shows these automatically. GraphEdit can show you this information, but it is very manual and you need to know what you are doing.

Is there any way, then, of clearing out all the multiplexers to then install a new one? Which version of which particular multiplexer is generally recommended?

As you're probably well aware, cleaning a machine out can be a challenge. It really depends how you got the mux filters on their in the first place. It may be just a matter of using the 'add/remove programs' control panel. Otherwise, you may need to manually unregister the filters.

That said, you can tell GB-PVR which mux filter you'd prefer to use (see misc tab in Config app). If the filter you choose is actually installed on your machine, then it'll be used. The *.exe-native.log file lists the filter that was used.

I can really remember the version number of the top of my head, but the Cyberlink one was something like 5.0.0.127.

I have two boards on my computer
- WinTV PVR 250
- WinTV Nova-T

GBPVR, using the WintvPVR produce correct MPEG2 files, but using the Nova-T Board, the MPEG2 files are corrupted.

I tried to use Cyberlink filter, but it modify the live TV, cutting the screen, with a large green square on the right.

I didn't find the ShowShifter filter, even if i install the Application

I tried to use Intervideo filter who seems to work better, but when i play back the files, the image skip and stop after 2 or 3 seconds.

I tried to open the corrupted MPEG2 file with Virtualdub. I got a lot of warnings :
MPEG:Anachronistic or discontinuous timestamp found in video stream 0 at
byte position xxxxx ,from 0 to xxxxx

I don't know what is wrong.

What version of the CyberLink mux were you using?

That sounds like the Cyberlink Decoder, not the Cyberlink Multiplexer. They're different things, with very different purposes. The multiplexer doesnt modify the picture in any way, and is only used when recording to a file. Its not used for displaying anything on the screen.

Hi,

I used the latest trial version of MakeDVD, downloaded on the cyberlink website.

i have no more green square, and cyberling works better than intervideo (about 1 to 5 MPEG warnings with cyberlink mux, and >100 with intervideo mux)

Now, digitals channels can ben seen over the network and recorded..... great .... but a new (little) problem appears : the recorded video size is 544*576 instead of 720*576.

How can i change the image size when recording ?

GB-PVR doesnt alter the image size when recording, it just stores the video data as it was transmitted (unaltered). If it was transmitted in 544*576, then it'll be recorded in 544*576.
