My odd behavior: I use delete in My Videos, and even just deleting recordings, and sometimes it doesn't. It also puts a hold on the file, so you can't do so until restart.

I used to think it was only files on the network, and then just files in general. Now I realize it's just sporatic for all deletes (I just don't delete as many recorded TV files).

One shared behavior: it always seems to be w/ files I just finished watching, but waiting 1 or 60 sec doesn't seem to make a difference.

The only thing I noticed is that when it works, it takes a moment to delete, but it fails instantly.

I've seen nothing in the logs. Only thing that happens remotely close to it is storing the playback position.

I can live w/, but I wanted to report. It would be nice to fix, but not necessary.

I nticed this, I think the problem may be that while comskip is running, you cannot delete the file because it's being used by another process. I think this is what's happenning anyways.

It's not comskip, because it can happen to file I've converted to xvid/divx. I think the only way these interact w/ the DB is stroing playback position, but that shouldn't be a persistant process.

sub: just saw your note in the other post about being tied up in personal things, so unless you (or anyone) can think of something I can change/fix, just add this to the potential bug list and ignore for now.

it tries to delete the file, if the file is in use it wont. my videos isnt doing anything with the video files themselves anywhere, it only uses the filename for database stuff, not the file itself. so if you cant delete a file, its your systems fault (ive only not be able to delete a video when comskip is running, in recordings it will delete the entry even if the file isnt deleted).

I figured it was the system in some way, but I can always delete through explorer, etc, so it's something about how GB deletes in general, or sends the command. Or, it's something about how the system allow apps like it to do deletes.

I had it happen today on a file I hadn't played today at all, so it's not related to being in use, either now.

I think I'm just looking to see if theres something about how I can get sys/gb to cooperate better doing this if possible.

Gentlemen, pls....

Anyway, I wasn't trying to say My Vids or even GB was to blame. I use My Video and XRecord the most, so it's where I noticed it. It's like saying I saw an accident on a street, but I'm not blaming the road.

I think other people may have the issue and not know it, anyway. When it happens w/ XRecord (and it's not the problem, either), it removes it from the screen, but the file remains (so you need to go into your record dir to see).

Again, GB is also not the problem. I just think there may be a way for it to communicate the delete differently, or for me to tell the system to honor it better. I think it's a tweak at worst, in the program or on the effected systems. Since I know sub has his hands full, I'm just seeing if anyone else has seen and beaten this glitch.

it could be windows xp (assuming you use xp), i have one file, its a divx file, that windows never lets me delete, or rename or do anything with it. no program is using it, even if i try deleting it in the command prompt windows wont let me, win xp is annoying this way (its a major bug). i was only able to delete the file in safe mode.

this is the same as in "Recordings" aswell, which has its ups and downs (but i would prefer it if recordings kept it in the list if it was unable to delete the file).

there must be a way to track down what process is using the file...
