I am testing out ver 5 finally.  I have the server set up on a windows machine and am trying to use a second windows machine act as the client.  Am I to understand that the client that comes with the file nextpvr.exe can only run on the same machine as the server is running on?  If this is the case..what shall i use to act as a client on a win pc?
Thank you for you tine.

I am surprised you didn't find your answer on a forum search. Kodi is probably your best bet with the Kodi PVR client and if you like the NextPVR UI use knewc with Kodi. You can autostart knewc to bypass the Kodi UI but then you miss out on the plugins and players that Kodi offers.

I want to keep with Windows for I am able to remote into it to service it. It is for my Elderly Mother. I would like to keep the same look and feel for her. It is hard enough teaching her new tech. Will Nlite work as a client for ver 5? From what I have read on the wiki It should...
Thank you,...

Kodi with knewc and NLite both give the same interface yes. NLite is quite good but it might take more support than knewc.

You are not alone but that is not currently an option and may never be.

If you like the NPVR4 client GUI, but you want to use NPVR5 server, you can use a sort of workaround...

Install on your client PC npvr4 and configure it as server, not as NPVR4 client.

Then configure NPVR4 to use NPVR5 as IPTV source.

Th drawback is that you have to configure the EPG sources on the NPVR4 server as well. (easy if you're using a web source, more convoluted if you normally use the EIT data from the antenna)

This might be a way to try.  Has anyone else tried this?
