Setup Nightmare

As far as upgrading goes the upgrade from NextPVR 4 to 5 went as smooth as you can expect.

The nightmare is I decided to rescan channels on my HDHomeRun (3 tuners), NextPVR 4 would see that they are the same device technically and ask if I wanted to copy the channel setup.  NextPVR 5 does not do this.   I ended up with having to hand remove about 200 unused channels from each tuner, by hand.    You can't even quickly select a bunch of checkboxes in a range.

I then did an auto-merge but when that was finished, I still had duplicates:

44 CNN
44 Cable News Network

I'm having to do these, by hand, by unchecking everything and checking the two channels, and selecting merge.   It then is merging it and forgetting the schedules direct mapping so I get to fix that after I finish with this.

Absolute nightmare.

If you start with empty tuners, and scan channels on a single tuner, then click on another tuner, you should be asked if you'd like copy the channels from an existing tuner of the same type. ie, you shouldnt need to setup each tuner separately.

It wont ask you to copy channels from another tuner if it already has channels....which it sounds like you already had. Best thing to do in this scenario is click on each device, and delete the channels, then just setup a single tuner the way you want, then click on each of the other empty tuners to get the prompt to copy the channel setup.

I'd definitely do it the way I suggested - it'll be the quick easy way to go.

FYI: This part (where scheduled recordings are being left pointing to the "deleted channel" when merging channels) is a bug which sub says he has fixed for the next release of NextPVR.

Unfortunately, I believe that you still have to manually go through each set of channels, though because there isn't a way to auto-merge by channel numbers rather than channel names.

I feel your pain since I recently went through this process. However, in my case, they were different devices, so I couldn't just use the "copy config from first HDHR tuner to the rest of the HDHR tuners" shortcut.
