I’ve been using DVB-S and DVB-T card with PCs for many years under WMC. I’ve now come back to this as I discovered NextPVR.

I’m using Windows 10 with an Intel CPU and have a Nova 500 dual tuner and a Hauppauge HD S2.

Terrestrial - The Nova 500 will work under W10 but with old drivers. If you use the latest drivers or Windows update drivers it fails. However, when its working, its flawless.

Satellite - The DVB-S S2 card has been difficult to setup. Hauppauge were no help at all. There are latest windows 10 drivers that you must purchase, didn’t work. The windows update drivers do work.

It scans and finds circa 800 channels on Astra 28.8. Issues start when you start tweaking the audio streams and the EPG etc including blue screens. I still think its driver- driven.

I will keep on trying as I love the idea of everything in one backend box which is managed by Librelec client.

I’m not sure if scanning is best through browser or fat client or if LAV filters need to be set differently for DVB-S

Any advice or suggestions are welcome

Both of those are rather old PCI cards. What is the spec of the rest of the system?

How many channels are your trying to use from the satellite? If yuou are using the OTA epg it will need to be manageable. IF the drivers are difficult on Windows consider LibreElec as the server.

its an i7 cpu with 32gb ram MB is 2017

cards have followed me through the various systems for a while. Freesat is attractive cause the area i live in have poor terrestrial reception

Confirmed that a Hauppauge DVB-S2 PCI - 69100 LF is working correctly on up-to-date Windows 10 with this driver:

Driver Provider: Hauppauge
Driver Date: 20/11/2012
Driver Version: 2.126.30325.0

I'm pretty sure Hauppauge don't charge for drivers. They might have been asking you for your WinTV serial number, which is a paid product. The most recent drivers for the Nova-HD S2 should be here on the Drivers tab: https://www.hauppauge.com.sg/pages/suppo...ahds2.html

What does the message on the blue screen say? Usually it'll identify the faulting module, which ultimately tell you what device is crashing. It could be the tuner, but you indicated it happened when you were tweaking the audio stream, so it could alternatively be the driver for you audio device.

That popup doesn't really do anything at this stage storry. It definitely shouldn't cause any blue screems (literally doesn't do anything other than restart the stream)

If you need to be able to change streams etc, you can use the nextpvr.exe desktop app, or kodi or other player that handles native streams.
