Pretty much everything in NextPVR is designed around skipping (since majority of directshow decoders don't support rewind, and only do fastforward at 2x). It has short skip, long skips, and skips where you can specify the number of minutes you want to jump.

nextpvr.exe has a fake fastforward/rewind mode which is just lots of short skips happening. It's pretty crappy. nlite doesn't bother implementing this.

It's supposed to only really dim the bottom portion of the screen, where the info is displayed. If it's the whole screen, it may be related to changes that are being made for the next release, and will resolve itself when the next version is available for you to install.

Quote:When that overlay is active and I move the mouse, there is some blocky artifacting going on in the lower right corner covering about1/8 of the screen.  Kinda flashes.
Can capture a screenshot?

Response: I have attached a zip of a screenshot (that wasn't it easy to time!).  the screencap isn't exactly as I experience it.  The bottom left corner is not the bright (more like a dirty white) and the writing from the overlay is not completely lost.  But the screencap gives a general idea of what I am experiencing.

If you've got an Intel video chipset, it could be related to a known bug they have with the EVR video renderer in some version of their video drivers.

Response: Its a laptop with an Intel UHD Graphics 620 Adapter, so maybe that is the issue

Quote:Second issue is that the rewind and forward don't seem to work.
Using the mouse? Does pressing Ctrl->LeftArrow or Ctrl->RightArrow work for skipping?

Response: yes mouse.  Ctrl->LeftArrow or Ctrl->RightArrow work but kludgy...not wanting to be critical here, just reporting my experience.

Yes, I think that tearing is the intel driver issue. I can't remember what the most recent status of that bug was. If you google "intel nextpvr evr", you'll find some discussion. It only happens on some Intel chipsets. (seem to remember they fixed it, then later broke it again)

I'm pretty sure that black overlay being on the top of the screen too is related to a change I made to nlite.exe last week. It'll be fixed in the next NextPVR release.

I've updated https://nextpvr.com/client.zip, to fix the fastforward/rewind mouse buttons in nlite. They now do a short skip forward/back. ie 10 second jump. The regular skip buttons do like 60 seconds forward, 30 seconds back. You can also prefix the skip buttons with a number of minutes. ie pressing 4 before skipping will jump 4 minutes.
