Hello All,

I think if I am right you are responsible for getting the imbedded CC enabled automatically in Kodi nightlies.

I just had to come here after updating and seeing it working. Thank you so much.

Is there still any hope that if there are two subtitle streams it will default to the second one?

If you are posting to me, I added a patch to make closed captions autostart but that was Oct 2020 not a recent nightly so you might be thinking of someone else.

Does hitting the T key is the switch them for you? If so you can try using Kodi setting to save the setting If it doesn't "stick" for a specific Live TV channel then that would be a Kodi bug you would not need to report on github https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues. It is not a trivial process so be prepared.

I certainly won't do this change since my local channels can be CC1 or CC2 and they switch so a default is not sufficient.

There is an enhancement for Kodi https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/20469 to use improve closed captioning but it seems to have stalled. Since it is ccextractor based, it might be better on auto detecting the best channel to use.
