Hello,

I have cable tv running into my WinTV PVR350. The picture looks great on my monitor, as well as on my TV (though MVP), except on one channel. It is cable channel 8, which is broadcast channel 6, our local NBC affiliate. The best way I can describe it is that its like looking at the picture through a pair of translucent black drapes - you can make out shapes but the detail is not enough to make out faces or small objects.

Is there a way to tune this? The rest of the channels are crystal clear, so why would this one be a problem? I'd hate to fix this one at the expense of the others, but then again some of the shows we'd like to record regularly are on this channel.

Thanks,
Brian

I had this problem also and it was because (somehow) DirectX had an override frequency hard-coded into the registry and it was incorrect. I didn't put it there, but it had probably been fiddled by some other PVR app I had installed.

To remove all custom tuning frequencies...

Find this registry key...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune
Now bury into all the keys labeled TS0-0, etc, and delete any values in them.

If this is the cause of your problem, this should solve it.

Thanks for the response, but my registry has none of those tags. Is there any other way to tune channels in GBPVR or Windows? I am running XP. Is it possible that the registy entires could be in a different place or under a different name than those listed in the last reply?

Thanks
Brian

Thanks for posting this! I've been plagued by a problem with our CATV channels 2 and 4 --- regardless of which I selected I got channel 2. I looked in the registry you noted and both channels had the same frequency assigned. I corrected channel 4 frequency, rebooted and the problem is fixed.

Thanks
