Displaying the Current Song

After years of a stable HTPC with NPVR and Windows 7, I decided to upgrade the software for my New Years Resolution. The upgrade to NPVR (6.1.5) went fairly smooth. My notes for installing NPVR from years ago were still relevant for this version. However, the one thing that I noticed while playing some of my music is that the UI for the Windows client does not display the song that is currently playing like it did in the old versions of NPVR. Did I miss a setting somewhere, or has that feature been removed, or is this a bug?

I think the music UI has changed quite a bit from v4. Not only missing Now Playing, if I recall playlists could be viewed and managed and I don't think that is supported either. The UI client API doesn't address music eister so I know I had to fake it in some of my clients to show the Now Playing metadata.

Whether it is a bug or just missing from the port sub will need to address.

Playlists are still there. You can see what it's in the playlist, select a different song in the playlist, shuffle the playlist etc (at least from nextpvr.exe)

I don't remember much about music playback from years ago, but I don't remember explicitly removing anything. The screen saver still seems to be showing the current song. Is that where you meant?

OK thanks I don't use NextPVR.exe so I hadn't noticed, certainly via UI clients it isn't working, it just shows no playlist active.

I think you used to use taglib-sharp to show metadata int the Now Playing area of Global.xml,

Sub, for me, it isn't the screen saver but the screen that shows the list of audio files. Also, didn't the older versions display the song title (metadata) in the list and not the filename?

The screen saver is showing the song title from the metadata.

If you're in the list view, you should see the filenames on the left, and on the right you see any embedded metadata, like artwork, artist and title etc. About 6 months or so ago, we experiment with using the song title and track numbers from metadata in left side lists, but we found it too inconsistent in tagged files, so it's back as filenames.

The missing metadata is what was shown on the bottom for the current song which was available on all NextPVR screens via Global.xml

Yep, that's what I am no longer seeing. Looks like I'm not seeing the Now Playing info on all of the screens.
