Web: "Play Program"

I am doing the web-access to my GBPVR machine, and there is a function on things that I recorded that says "Play Program" When I press that, it allows me to save it as a .m3u file. My default is to play it in I-tunes. But I opened it in Windows Media Player (since it's a video file) and it didn't work.

Any ideas on how this is supposed to work?

I use firefox for this and select videolan as the player for the shows.

i open the m3u file with notepad, copy the url shown, and paste it into internet explorer. then i get the option to download or open the .mpg file.
pretty slow though, might be me.

Assisiating .m3u with VLC also works, VLC lauches and shows the recording
