Hello,
I'm new to GBPVR, but I just got it installed this weekend, and have been toying with all of the settings. I ran into a question in trying to set my default recording quality. I have been using Hauppauges WinTV2K for a while now, and have come up with a set of recording settings that seem to provide good video quality, while at the same time do not take as much disk space as the "default" medium quality settings.

I have set these up under the "Custom1" quality settings, but can't find a way to make them default. Am I missing something? I realize that I can manually select them by going through the recording settings everytime I want to record a show, but that's a pain. Can't I set Custom1 to be the default?

On a different note, is there an easy way to setup another PC as a GBPVR client? I would like to be able to view all the same screens that I have on the server and my Media MVP, but can't seem to find a simple way to do this. If I could get the client PC to act like another MVP, that would be perfect. Any ideas?

Thank for any help you can provide, and for a wonderful program!

"medium" = default
so change the "medium" settings to what you would like for default, ie quick recordings will always use "medium"

See reven's answer above.

Sorry, this is not supported in GB-PVR at this stage. This may be added in a future release.

It has been my experience with the latest release that the medium/default setting will not change. You can set it in the config but it will always record with the factory default settings. The High, Low and others will change but Medium will always record at 4500 VBR setting no matter what you tell it to do.

I am having the same problem with the medium setting. I tried changing it from 720x480 to 640x480 on a plextor TV-402u. It still records at 720x480 even though it is listed as changed in the config program.

A side note to this, I've tried setting one of the Custom settings to the lowest (I believe 320x240) but it records at 320x480, the same as low res NTSC.

Could it be the PVR cards we're using? I have a Hauppauge PVR150, maybe it only has 2 modes?

Any update on this issue, since I am also experiencing the same problem?

I have to manually edit MEDIUM/DEFAULT in the direct.ini.

Thanks in advance.

What issue? Medium is always the default. If you want to change the default, then edit the medium settings, which is what it sounds like you've done.

Thanks to reven and sub for the help.

I thought I would give you an update on things. I edited my Medium/Default settings, and this worked great. I just updated to 92.11 however, and after the upgrade checked my Medium settings and discovered that they had been reset to their original defaults. All of my other changes seem to have been preserved, so I thought it odd enough to mention here.

On a different note, I also noticed that after the upgrade, I can no longer see the My Videos plugin in the menu. I've checked my config.xml as well as the config program, and its listed in both correctly. The dll is also still present in the plugins folder. It just doesn't appear. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, unfortunately this is normal. These setting are always reset during an upgrade.

I've never really used My Videos, so I'm not well placed to answer questions about it. It may show an error in gbpvr.exe.log that'll give you some clues.
