I am having problems getting the live TV function on GBPVR to work for more than a few minutes. All functions seem to work fine from PC and MVP (have not tried video recording yet, waiting till I have stable TV) but if I try to watch live TV form the MVP, works fine for a few minutes then crashes looking for servers. When I check the PC the GB-PVR MediaMVP Server has disappeared, if I restart it and power cycle the MVP then all will work for a few minutes then fail again. If I try watching live TV from the PC then the whole machine locks up and I am forced to power cycle it to get it going again.

MP3's will play fine on both without crashing just seems to be TV causing problems.

Would like to include a useful log with this question but I can not determine which log should have useful info. in it.

If anyone has any ideas or experience of resolving this fault I would be very grateful for their input, I am so near to having a working setup it is very frustrating.

Thanks for any help
Marc

Just guessing.

Lack of disk space on the partition used for buffering Live TV or the XPSP2 firewall (or other firewall software).

Are you using a wireless network? With an ethernet bridge for the MVP? If so then this couold be the result of a short skip of the wireless signal, enough to stop the live TV feed. The mp3's will work because the MVP pre-loads them before playing and a short network failure would not effect it. This theory is even plausible with a wired network as well. What kind of router are you using?

Thanks for the ideas, here is some more info.

There is 15 Gb free space on the GBPVR “data disc” used for the video buffer so should not have a space problem there. (yet!)

I normally run the Sygate personal firewall but shut the program down whilst using gbpvr. (I will start using it as the last step once every thing working. Keep life simple whilst faulting.) I do not have broadband connected full time at present so no router in the network and therefore not a problem having the firewall off whilst getting things working.

The MVP is connected by 100M Ethernet via a Netgear hub with nothing else connected.

Do remember I suffered from the PC locking up playing live TV as well so at present I don’t personally think I have a network fault.

Are there any buffer settings that could be wrong some where? I have not deliberately changed any from default as far as I know. Is there a log that is likely to tell what was happening at the time of the crash?
