Hi,

I just received my new PowerColor Theater 550 card (already have a working setup with Hauppauge 350), and will be installing it later this evening. I intend to hook the RF antenna cable to both cards, so hopefully both cards would be able to tune to the same set of channels.

If I configure the new capture source and tell it to use the same XMLTV file, is this sufficient for my system to be able to record overlapping programs?
How do I tell it that the channels one capture source can see are not merely copies, but are in fact the same ones?

I've been searching the forums and docs for this, but couldn't find. Apologies if this has been answered before.

Thanks,
GGF

i'm not sure if i understand you correctly...

when you use the same xml-file for two (or more) capture sourcses, gbpvr gets it right by (AFAK) comparing (case insensitive?) the channel names in the file to allready existing ones.
if a channel allready exists in the gbpvr config, gbpvr just adds the channel to the new capture source (table source_channel_mapping in gbpvr.mdb)

i once recorded two consecutive shows on one channel with 5 min pre-show padding. there was no commercial break between the shows, so the second show was recorded using the second tuner while the first show still was recording on the first one (meaning the last 5 minutes of the first show were on the start of the second).

hope this is what you meant *g*

Hi,

Yes, that's basically what I wanted to know.

Do I still have to define channel frequencies and channel numbers for this new capture source?

Thanks,

yes, after the xml-file is imported you will have them in alphabetical order (or order in the file?) and the channel numbers starting by 0 to X.

of course this is not very comfortable... but you (hopefully) do this only once *g*.

of course there is always the possibility to add the new capture source and channels directly to the gbpvr.mdb (i did this using m$ access). but messing arround with the database is never a good idea unless you really _REALLY_ are sure what you are doing :-)
