Hey,

Well this is my last kink to figure out. I cant perfect the way my video looks. To explain what I mean, here is a pic:

I am having problems with rapid movement. Take for example, the ticker at the bottom of the screen. It always seems to be distorted, the same goes when (for example) a baseball players swings the bat.

Any ideas? I use VMR9 with the CyberLink video decoder. The other options are InterVideo and NVidia. The Cyberlink one seems the best?

This is running on basic COAX cable as well. Is there anyway to check what WinTV uses for the video codecs? Because the same channel looks a bit better. (Sorry for mentioning WinTV, this program is far superior)

Thanks.

Is this live tv, or playing back recordings?

Try setting your 'deinterlacing' setting to 'encoder pass-through'

I tried that, but it says..

Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Try a differnt MPEG2 decoder. Some of them dont like this encoder pass through.

It may not be the decoder. I was having similar problems on TV programmes which were burned to a DVD and played back using a standalone DVD player. The problem for me was the "spacial temporal" setting on the encoder. It is normally set to 7 - setting it to 4 removed all the movement artifacts for me.

You can use the Hauppauge tweak tool to set it.

Cheers
GB-PVR 1.0.16 (recording service and database) running on: VIA EPIA 5000 (533Mhz), 512MB, 40GB HD, PVR-150MCE, USB-UIRT controlling Sky Digital box.

GB-PVR 1.3.11 (front-end and client for above) running on: Toshiba NB100 netbook 1.6Ghz, 160GB HD, 1GB RAM.

Front-end viewed on 2xMVPs (using mvpmc dongle).

If you have the 150 and the Haup Tweak tool (you can get off wiki), try:

sharpness: 5 (I have sharpening tools w/ nVidia turned on 1/4 too, splitting the load)
static blur: 6
spacial blur 1

Another thing is to look at your regular TV signal, and see if you see it there, too. Sometimes you don't notice the artifacts were always there.

Motion tickers (crawls) will interlace a little and sometime hiccup in the motion, even though the rest of the picture is fine. That, and sports action (like basketball players running by the crowd) are some of the more intensive TV for the card/decoders.

Hey, I tried many variations with the encoder pass through, but it always gave me the error: object reference not object error.

As for this suggestion, I have a 250 card. When I open the properties for it, the only setting there is brightness. Under the 150/500 tab I see what you are speaking of, can I change these, or wont it matter as I have 250? Because I dont see special or static blur?
