Hello,

For some reason I can't get avi clips (Xvids and Divx) in the video folder to play. Nothing happens when I click on a file. Mpeg2 clips play nicely though. Any ideas?

I've tried this on two machines. On the second machine I just get a black blank screen.

I'm using Win XP SP 2 on both machine and WMP 10 on the first and WMP 9 on the second.

Regards
Imreen

Both have

Some users have been able to get this working, try searching for it at the top right of this screen, dark blue letters. But you will not be able to get them working through MVP, PVR-350's or XCards, they only work with Mpeg2 because of the hardware decoders build onboard.

Hi,

I do have a PVR-350 but I'm not using hardware decoding. I'm using the "none - software decoding" option.

I've tried a search here on the forums but found nothing on this subject.

regards
Imreen.

Here is one link:
http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin....or+xvid

If you do a search for Divx OR Xvid you will get other hits of people playing other video formats. It seems to come down to installed codecs.

That's the strange part. I can play these files in WMP/WinDVD/PowerDVD and what have you.

I'm pretty sure I've got all the necessary codecs installed.

The only software where these files don't play is GB-PVR.

I managed to fix this by changing setting from VMR9 to overlay.

Thanks for your help though

Hi,

I have gotten the AVI's to play however movie style avi's seem to be stretched somehow. They fit the screen perfectly, but the problem is that everything is stretched vertically.

So all the people seem sorta thin... any ideas?

Using PVR-350
svideo out from video card.

Thanks

There seems to be no configuration to say "respect the movie's original aspect ratio", or...

I am using 0.22 since I had trouble with 0.23. Is that the solution or?

currently there is no fix for this, gbpvr will always stretch the videos to fit the screen.

i like this feature since i have a widescreen tv. Tongue

it is on subs to do list however.

Okelidokeli,
no WS TV in my home :-(

The appropriate thing would be, I guess, to have a setting of "nothing", "fill", or "respect asepct ratio of original" (like Sagetv has). The aim should be to allow GB-PVR to become a complete media center application and I think this setting is needed.

So, if it is on the todo list, it's OK. Hopefully it can be fixed in coming releases.
