I bought a Hauppauge MCE Remote Control Kit (Model 01069). At least, that's what it says on the box. The remote itself doesn't mention Hauppauge - see picture attached.

i am trying to use this with GBPVR but not having much luck. I have downloaded the latest hauppauge ir driver but when run it says "failed to initialize Infrared Remote Hardware". I have the square box plugged in to a USB port, and the wire with the 3.5mm jack plugged in to that.

So, my questions :
Is this really a Hauppage remote?
If so, which driver do I need to make it work?
Is there a simple test program that displays the codes being received from the remote
Is that little bit of black plastic on the end of the wire an extender, or an IRblaster?

Cheers,

Richard

I've never heard of this product. It's not the standard Hauppauge remote setup that everyone else uses. Can you attach a picture?

Most MCE remotes need some sort of drivers installed, but it does depend which version of the operating system you're running.

If you have the MCE remote in a functioning state, then you should be able to use the 'MCE Remote' option in GB-PVR.

From investigations I think it IS a Hauppage remote, MCE version, with IR blaster.
trying to figure out how to make it work is less easy - need to extract some files from Win XP source disk.

A picture is attached in case you can suggest a simpler way. Not sure how I seem to get off the beaten track so often!

Oh yeah, its a Hauppauge remote, but its not the Hauppauge remote that everybody else here is using. Its not the Hauppauge remote that GB-PVR designed for.

If you can get MCE remote drivers installed for it, then you may be able to use it with the MCE Remote setting in GB-PVR (but it wont be fully functional).
