Hi Folks,

I am having a strange problem, and wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar, or could point me in the right direction.

Basically I have no DVD Button on the front screen of GBPVR, so I am unable to play DVD's through it.

Have done a search through the forums, and have not come up with anything helpful so far, which is relevant to the version of GBPVR I am using.

Using: GBPVR v0.93.10
OS: Windows MCE 2005
PVR: Hauppauge PVR 350

Config settings under DVD Playback section:
Navigator: Cyberlink DVD Navigator (PDVD6)
Video Decoder: Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder
Audio Decoder: Cyberlink Audio Decoder
Audio Renderer: Cyberlink Audio Renderer (PDVD6)
Show DVD Button: ticked
DVD-Rom Drive: set to correct Drive letter

I have Cyberlink PowerDVD installed as can be seen from the above, I also have Intervideo WinDVD 7 installed, and have tried selecting the Navigator/Decoders for that, and I have also tried leaving all these values as system default. I have unticked, saved, and then re-ticked Show DVD button.

I can see the task for the DVD Button is processed upon starting GBPVR from the GBPVR.exe.log file:

05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] Loading main menu
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: TV Guide
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: Search Guide
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: Recordings
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: Live TV
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: Video Library
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: Music Library
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: DVD
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: FM Radio
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: Net Radio
05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 VERBOSE [2] - Adding task: Exit

However prior to this, I can see that when loading showbuttons task into the cache, the button isn't listed:

05/09/2005 19:01:39.906 VERBOSE [2] getValue: /settings/ShowButtons : TV Guide,Search Guide,Live TV,Net Radio,FM Radio (has settings),Recordings,Music Library,Video Library,Exit
05/09/2005 19:01:39.906 VERBOSE [2] GuideMenuTask created
05/09/2005 19:01:40.000 VERBOSE [2] LiveTVMenuTask created
05/09/2005 19:01:40.015 VERBOSE [2] NetRadioMenuTask created
05/09/2005 19:01:40.031 VERBOSE [2] loading /settings/SpecialElements/SpecialElement[@name="ListView"]
05/09/2005 19:01:40.031 VERBOSE [2] loading /settings/SpecialElements/SpecialElement[@name="DetailsView"]
05/09/2005 19:01:40.078 VERBOSE [2] FMRadioMenuTask created

From the same log file, the only error I get is this one:

05/09/2005 19:01:40.343 ERROR [2] Unable to find node: /settings/SpecialElements/SpecialElement[@name="MenuType"]

I don't know whether that is relevant or not.

So, if anyone can point me in the right direction, would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Lostsoul

You cant watch DVDs on the PVR350's TV out, so in this configuration the DVD button is not shown.

But how, I have the same "problem"... I have the same setup and what do I choose to play the dvd?

Maybe a stupid question but hey then I´m just stupid or very tired... Wink

it is technically not possible to get the content of a dvd 'through' the tv-out of the pvr 350 (well... porpably the "video-part", but menus are a completely different thing).

so the dvd button won't show up as long you have 'hardware decoding' (=tv out of the 350 or sigma xcard) on.

when using hardware deocing, you wont be able to play dvds in gbpvr and you have to look for another solution.
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

The pvr350 does not have a dvd audio decoder AC3 I think. It uses MP2. So... the only option you have if you want to watch dvd's is to use software mode and connect your tv to your graphics card.

I recently wrote a plugin called xdvd not posted yet that transcodes the dvd for the MVP. We probably can do something similar in this case if you are interested.

I would be interested in seeing xdvd modified to play dvd's out the pvr-350's video port. I have a couple dvd players already, but if I can reduce it all down to one box, that would be awesome... I also have an XCard that I could put in this machine if there was a way to load and play DivX through GBPVR, there probably is, I just haven't found it yet.
