Software Encoder Question

I have a Pinnacle PCTV Stereo tuner card, which uses software encoding. This makes Windows XP MCE unusable for me, but I am looking for an alternative. What I want to do is just be able to use an EPG and be able to leave my pc to record shows when I’m not home. So just EPG & scheduled recording are what I need, although things like pausing live tv would be nice.

Can I use GBPVR for this purpose? If not, which programs can I use to do this? Does anyone else use a software encoder / PCTV Stereo to record TV?

Your setup doesnt not sound like a good match for GB-PVR. You might be able to get it to work with the plugin from here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2753 but it can be a bit hit or miss.

Realistically if you want you use GB-PVR you'd need a supported card like the Hauppauge PVR-150 or ATI 550 pro.
