Using PVR150 remote, when I press record watching live TV, the ir blaster changes my external cable box to channel 16 (always), then starts recording. What's up with that? Otherwise the remote works ok - except no controls of imported recordings (divX, etc - perhaps because GBPVR doesn't play these files itself but hands off to another player?). Remote works fine on GBPVR recordings.

I'm wondering if this is some sort of conflict between the Hauppauge apps and GBPVR. I use GBPVR ONLY, so I have no use for any Hpge apps - do I need any of them? Maybe I need Hpge drivers only?

I understand that "GB-PVR needs to use some dlls from the IR software (IR.exe)" (from the manual) so that would have to be installed, but for simplicity am I better just to use GBPVR internal control of my remote?

Thanks all,

Great product Sub!

Its normal that it will use the currently configured channel changer to send the 'channel change' requestion. When you press the record button when watching tv it'll effectively start a recording, and part of the normal process of starting a recording is to send the requested channel number to the channel changer.

Do you have the correct channel numbers listed in the capture source settings next to each channel.

Does the IR Blaster normally work correctly for you? ie, in live tv will successfully change to the right channels, or does it always go to 16.

Sorry Sub - I had to travel unexpectedly. I will verify the behaviour you asked about in this weekend.

Cheers

Ok Sub - now I'm back and you're out of town! Big Grin

Channel changing via remote works fine in live TV - channel up/down as well as entering digits. Then I hit record while watching channel 289, IR blaster re-enters the channel (actually it re-entered 289 this time!). Then after a moment it enters another number (which appeared random), the it said "Starting Timeshift" and entered another channel.

I don't see myself doing this type of recording regularly, so if this is totally out-there for you, you can just say "wow Cybergy, I've never heard of that before!" Rolleyes

Thanks Sub - hope you enjoyed your time away, even if it was not a vacation.

Quote:...and part of the normal process of starting a recording is to send the requested channel number to the channel changer.

That makes prefect sense to me for a scheduled recording, but perhaps not so after pressing the record button on the remote.

I think this is what's happening in my use case; I don't use GBPVR to watch live TV ever - I just watch TV directly and with an A/B switch box I flip to GBPVR to watch recordings. So I use the cable box remote for channel changing and I never use the GBPVR remote except play/FF/RW of recordings. GBPVR has no idea what channel the cable box is actually on at any given time, therefore it must send a channel change request before recording. For scheduled recordings, this makes perfect sense to me.

However, when I press record on the remote, GBPVR sends a command to change the cable box to the channel that GBPVR thinks I'm on (which in my case was always 16, since I never change channel with GBPVR) as opposed to just recording whatever is coming in through the SVideo port at the time. I suppose this is a requirement for channel guide and identification of the recorded program?

The obvious question would be - can I configure GBPVR to simply start recording when I hit the record button without sending a change channel command first?

I realize I've largely been talking to myself here...comments? Anyone? Big Grin

No, there is no way for you to configure this.
