Hi - I just tried using comskip for the first time (0.77-56) in GBPVR 0.94.13. I have set the comskip to post-processing.

WOW! this is great!

Just one small hiccup. After the skip the video comes up straight away and plays for a few seconds then stops. Then the audio starts and plays up to the video - then they both play in sync again. Wierd!

I know there is no problem with the recorded file becasue if I remove the comskip files it play perfectly.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks.

It probably has nothing to do with Comskip. To test this, start watching any one of your recordings and then manually skip forward 5 minutes (on the remote, press "5" then the "Skip" button). You will probably see the same results. Search the forums here for "sync" and you'll probably find your answer.

I have no problem with a short skip (1 munute) but I will try a long one and check out the thread.

Many thanks.

You can also try with another decoder that might be better at skipping large amounts of time.
I'm not always right

Please keep in mind that skipping to a new location requires the MPEG player to resynchronize audio and video. Not all players do this without a hickup.

Usually this is the case, but last night it was not.

My wife and I were watching CSI:Miami when the video started to stutter -- just prior to a commercal break. Then GBPVR automatically skipped the commercial and then the sync was off by about 1 second. This is the first time I have seen the audio & video get out of sync on a GBPVR-recorded program.

I then stopped the program, restarted it, did a 2-4-skip (to get back to where we were -- 24 minutes in -- after the stutter), and all was well.

Where you watching in timeshift mode? With Comskip in live_tv=1 mode?

Yes, I have live_tv=1, but it was a recorded program being watched over my MVP.

Then I can't understand how comskip could cause this to happen because the MPEG file is not changed by comskip. it only generates the skip information.
Maybe there are certain exact locations in the MPEG stream you player has problems with and by accident comskip output succeeded in hitting such a point?

Good point -- it probably wasn't comskip per se, but the fact that I had some video stuttering just prior to a commercal break probably caused it. I just wanted to chime in because I saw something similar to what the original poster had reported.
