My problem is that every time I quit KODI it causes the NPVR recording service to stop/crash.
When I start my pc then start kodi then try to watch live tv it just buffers for a minute... then I have to minimize and restart the recording service which wouldn't be a big deal for some but i'm using this on an HTPC and almost never have my keyboard at hand.
Then, if I ever quit KODI it causes it to stop/crash... the icons are still in the tray but to make it work again in KODI or the NPVR gui I have to select restart recording service.
After quitting KODI a couple minutes ago I decided to check the Task Manager for the service and find that it is in the list "Stopped". I'm not sure why.
Thank you for your input!!!
oh yeah here's my log
EDIT** I'm just looking at the services window in Windows and see that there is an option to "Restart the Service" if it fails... I'm going to select this... But I'd still be interested to hear what is causing it.. (I'd rather fix the problem than just restart it all the time) --THANKS!
EDIT#2** After monitoring the task manager as I did this again I have narrowed down the problem to KODI start-up rather than shut down... When I quit KODI I am still able to start NPVR gui and start up live tv. But as soon as I start KODI again before I even navigate within KODI the recording service stops. thought it might help figure out the solution. (BTW automatic restart service thing in Windows is really slow).
I had NPVR working perfectly for about a week or so and was watching it today. I turned it off and left my computer running for about 2 hours while I went out... Came back home and tried to watch something and got audio but no video. I looked through the logs but i'm no expert...I've tried all the decoders that came with it and even installed ffdshow and tried that but all with the same result = no video... It was really great when it worked!!
I'll try to attach my log if it's the wrong log let me know!
Thanks!!!
EDIT** I should add that my Hauppauge Colossus is working when I try WinTV (the program that came with it)
Whenever I'm on the website and try to click on a scheduled recording name to view the details I get the following:

This is a problem that NPVR has always had, but seems to be a bit worse now.
When watching Live TV - either MPEG2 or H264 - when there are large blocks of Colour and Text (End of Shows, Adverts etc.) Sound stutters as playback bangs into the end of the file, which can be seen if you bring up the playback position bar. (-1 to 0 seconds on the left hand time)
If you go back in the file 30 seconds then forward 1 minute - i.e. to the end of the file - there is always a 4 to 3 second buffer left and it plays perfectly, as does recorded TV.
This is with the PDVD13 Video and Lav Audio Codecs with a 125ms audio delay to get lip sync.
Is there anyway to increase the Live TV buffer by a second or possibly two seconds to try and smooth out playback?
Now that I am running exclusively on USB tuners, in order to save space around my TV Iâm looking to dramatically downsize my NextPVR server (also running as a Plex server) which is currently in an Antec Fusion case with the new Intel i3 NUC.
Existing server: E5300 processor, 2GB RAM, 2x1TB HDD and 2xHauppauge Duet USB Tuners, MCE remote with USB receiver
New Server: NUC5i3RYH, 8GB RAM and 2TB Seagate M9T 9.5mm HDD, MCE Remote using integrated receiver
Whilst Iâve seen several discussions around using a NUC as a client PC, Iâm not aware of anyone using one as a server. Has anyone tried this configuration? Iâm especially interested in overall noise levels as Iâm keen to keep the server as quiet as possible (existing server has a Scythe Ninja Mini cooler and Sharkoon Silent Eagle 120mm fans).
I installed and configured NPVR and Schedules Direct per the setup guide/Wiki.
I have the settings checked to open Main Menu at start; does not happen only black screen.
I can start Live TV with right click menu.... but thats all I have is the right click menu.
The plugins are checked so they should show up in the start menu, but all I get is black screen.
When watching live TV I get flickering on 1 or 2 UHF channels but not all, tried changing the video render to 7 and 9 but that made the issue worse, returned to EVR. Also changed decoders and stuck with ffdshow, seems to have helped a bit also but not completely.
WinTV 7 app works flawlessly on all channels so I know it is NPVR and not the HW.
Using NPVR with Kodi/XBMC so need this to work.
Could the WinTV app be causing issues with NPVR, don't think I can uninstall it as it provides drivers for the 2255.
I've been using the Raspberry Pi for months with Raspbmc and it's been fine with the NPVR client (not needed to use Live TV though). I recently bought a RPi2 and discovered the Raspbmc build will not work with this new model. I therefore tried the new OSMC version and immediately hated the GUI.
This brought me to try XBIAN which is a Kodi build. The install went fine and it seems quite stable. My problems started as soon as I enabled the NPVR client. Every 30 seconds I get an audio beep and a popup saying NPVR has "Lost connection". The TV menu item doesn't appear and the EPG or Channel list doesn't load...... just every 30 seconds or so the "Lost connection" message pops up.
I have a spare Micro SD card so I loaded the XBian software onto that and tried it in my original RPi. Having configured it I get the same problem...NPVR has "Lost Connection" every 30-40 secs
So two different model RPis with the same problem implies to me a software or config issue. Has anyone else got XBian working with NPVR on a RPi?
Just to make matters worse, when I re-inserted my Raspbmc SD card back into my original RPi, it updated the software to the last Raspbmc Kodi release. That's now totally unstable with random re-boots and will often re-boot several times before reaching the main menu screen.
So I now have two RPis that I can't get to work properly.
I noticed that some channels were missing when I opened up my tuner box in the Devices settings. So I clicked on scan to have it rescan (Analog) and it skips from channel 16 to 21 when I know all five of those channels are valid. Any ideas why it would do that?
Since the update I am having problems with recording and live tv. If I pull up live tv I just get a black screen. And most of the times recording fail because it can't connect to my device. Yet if I go to status it sees the device. I did not have any of these problems prior to upgrading.
Any ideas? I do not know where to start to troubleshoot this.
For some time I can not browse the forum via Tapatalk application.
I got a message telling me that the plugin is not enabled on the forum ...
Did you also have this problem?
