I got a problem that started about a 1 week and half ago.
Suddly, I start seeing weird characters where it is supposed to be letters with accents, like á é õ.
I didn't change anything. This problem also affects media player MPC-HC (I contacted the dev years ago to add proper support to utf-8 and the characters appeared correct since then until... 1 1/2 weeks ago), it also affects a DVB-T box (it was working until 1 1/2 weeks ago, further investigation revealed if I changed EPG language from ALL to PT, things appear ok again).
The tvs connected to coax cable aren't affected by this problem because there is a setting that allows forcing the code page, but it is possible to replicate the problem of weird characters if I start from scratch and set country from Czesc (default from list) to UK. Name of the channels and description of the programs appear wrong.
I contacted my ISP about this issue and they appear to be clueless about this problem. I was contacted 2 days ago, I even sent them pictures.

I also have a Windows tool called DVBGuide and it is capable of extracting EPG listings from the coax streams like NEXTPVR does, but to a xml file.
When I open the xml file, it is possible to see utf-8 first line but when we check for where it is supposed to be letters with accents, we see other kind of characters.
I tried to investigate myself the problem but I got to the conclusion that my ISP or the EPG provider that injects data to the streams simply changed the codepage to something else than utf-8. They are probably trying to impose some compatible table for all devices.
No matter what conversions I make with the xml file, I can't get the letters with accents back.

Regarding Nextpvr, is there a way to force the codepage?
The following image shows an screenshot taken days ago. Below "TVI", it says "SIC Notícias" (whic is ok, but after a new channel cleanup/scan, it appears wrong...), where is is supposed to an ú it shows fused oe, the ó is a D with a dash... etc

I'm experiencing an issue with the NextPVR plugin on Jellyfin and would appreciate some help.

When I attempt to play live TV through the Jellyfin NextPVR plugin, there is a significant delay before the video player starts. It typically takes about 20-30 seconds for the player to pop-up. After this delay, the player enters a loading state for another 40 sec ( that's not a problem).

I've noticed that some users, thinking that their initial press of the play button did not register, end up clicking the play button 6-7 times. This results in multiple instances of FFmpeg being started simultaneously and is keeping my CPU usage spikes up to 90%, severely affecting the performance of the server.

I have been trying to access the XMLTV Guide at http://localhost:8866/service?method=channel.xmltv.

However I get this message included in the message below.

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed

Is there anyway to fix it?

One of the channels is changing its name slightly in the next few weeks. What is the best way to edit the channel name? The channel name only appears under “Scheduler” entries on the server if it is an “Advanced Recording”.  Is the best way going to be to edit the name in the CHANNEL database to keep the same OID?

1) as long as I make sure my source is the only channel being recorded for streaming (do not record two or three streams simultaneously)

2) as long as I make sure to not switch channels too soon after the recording is done. 

3) as long as the PC win10 workstation does not go to sleep or go offline. 

All recordings work well and perfectly in a WIN10 WORKSTATION set up!!!  Just want to confirm this for those who try and fail. The software works every time.

Right now the docker image only supports the Intel i195 driver.
I would like the Intel iHD to be added to the docker image for Transcoding purposes via VAAPI.
My CPU is a Comet Lake (i5-10500) which doesn't support the i915 driver and only the iHD Driver is Supported.
Please can this be looked into.

I've been using Next PVR (client and server) for about a year on a single Windows Mediatop box that I set up. It was running Windows 10 and I got sick of all the ads Microsoft kept pushing for me to go buy a new computer and so I have setup the same machine using Ubuntu 24.04 instead. Backend server is all set up and working beautifully now. I was using the Windows NextPVR client app on that machine, but not spotting a client app for Linux. It's possible I've missed it - for sure.

Would anyone happen to have any recommendations for what client they like to use on Ubuntu? Thanks!

I use the Docker version of NextPVR (actually I use Ranbato's version with bundled Comskip) on my Truenas machine and an issue that I had when I first installed it was that the scan tables were out of date. HD channels in my area changed frequency a few years ago but NextPVR was scanning the old frequencies.

I searched for the scan tables on my machine, found them in the docker files and overwrote the relevant one with the updated version from linuxtv.org. Channel scan now scans the correct frequencies and picks up all channels.

Will this be overwritten next time I update NextPVR? And if so, is there a way to make the change permanent on my Truenas, or is the only way making an update to the source file?

The only reason I see is future proofing NPVR to support the TV card - any other benefits?

Currently considering upgrading Hauppauge HVR2200 to their Quad HD (DVB) - I'm skeptical about benefits, DVB-T2 is not used in Australia.  
I have two HVR2200 cards although released in 2009 they still work with the latest edition of NPVR, for how long they are supported is unknown.

#1 Existing default
The LiveTV buffer is only useful for the current program provided by EPG i.e you can only go back to the start of current program being watched. 

#2 Need
If you give the Live TV buffer 2 hours then you should be able to go back 2 hrs while ignoring program changes on the channel.

Maybe a user could switch between #1 or #2 as a config option.
