  relocating the pvr server
Posted by: haverer2 - 2014-10-01, 06:51 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Hello! Suggestions please!

I current have my TV devices coming into a desktop in my office. It works no problem. I also use the machine for doing work besides nPVR recording.

To remove unsightly wires from the side of my house though, I'm thinking of relocating the tuners to the garage which is far nearer the satellite / aerial... and here no wires will be seen. Obviously I won't then be working in the garage, so I'd need to keep the desktop in the office to do work and purchase something new to run the npvr box / tuners. There's my question... what should I buy to run 4-6 tuners and npvr so that it works properly???

Currently the office machine is a quad core i7 960 with 4MB RAM. I've obviously never had a problem using nPVR with that... but I don't want to buy something for the garage that's well over speced.... need it to do an excellent job, but not have redundant hardware bought!

Thanks for any ideas.

John

How do I get NextPVR to use "right" images
Posted by: scJohn - 2014-10-01, 12:09 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I am recording Forever. NextPVR not using/finding Forever (2104). Seems to be using Forever from 1996 which has no fanart. I had the same problem with Reckless.

How do I fix this?

Thanks

  Database Locked Error Message

Seem to get this message up if I try and access via NEWA. It seems to bugger up the recording service also.

Logs and capture of err or attached.

  Client very slow to start
Posted by: KiwiGlen - 2014-09-30, 08:18 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I have NextPVR running as a server on one PC and a second PC that runs as a client.

When I start NextPVR on the client PC its takes about 30 seconds to load.

Looking at the log there seems to be a big gaps between two of the entries (see below)
2014-09-30 20:53:36.896 [DEBUG][1] Load@7
2014-09-30 20:53:57.910 [DEBUG][1] Setting override for <ExtraRecordingDirectories> to:
2014-09-30 20:53:57.910 [DEBUG][1] Load@8

I've tried changing a few things but can't seem to fix this.

I tried adding an extra recording directory on the client but that seems to get dropped as soon as I exit.

Anybody got any ideas?

Posted by: tvfiend - 2014-09-30, 05:32 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (5)

There's an issue renaming this show tonight, it's also an issue with ncis new orleans. Any suggestions?

  Cancel recording deleted recording ?
Posted by: Handy.Man - 2014-09-29, 09:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I was canceling a show yesterday and when I went to pick it up it had vanished

Could there be a race when the recording stopped by itself @2014-09-28 20:01:00.275 (it was programmed with 1 min pre and post padding) before the cancel was performed @2014-09-28 20:01:05.156 and the server NRecord deleted the file instead?
Note that client clock is about 6 sec ahead of server clock

I tried to fetch the server NRecord.logs but they already rolled over Sad

Here is the ndigitalhost-26.log on the server and NPVR.log.1 on the client

Playing a recording takes 14 seconds to start on a new windows client
Posted by: Sheik Yerbouti - 2014-09-29, 07:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I've bought myself a new toy: a gigabyte brix 2807. I've installed Windows 8.1 and nextpvr to use as a client. Everything works fine, but when I play a recording (HD) it takes 14 seconds until it starts. When I play the same recording with Windows Media Player it starts in 3 seconds. I've also installed xbmc and that starts it from xnewa within a second (wow). I haven't checked it for a SD recording, since I haven't installed a mpeg2 decoder yet. Logs attached, what can I do about this little problem?

Keep specfied "Extend End Time Minutes" after EPG update
Posted by: jfestrada - 2014-09-28, 10:42 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Hi,

I'm recording the NFL games and I'm specifying a 60 min extent end time that work OK until NextPVR update de EPG and reset the original end time of the recording.

For example, today's game of New Orleans vs Dallas, I search in NEWA for the game and mark the Record Me check box and specify 50 on the "Extend End Time Minutes" field and click the Record Selected button, that work ok and if I go to Manage Recordings the begin and end time of the recording show the minutes I extended, but If I run an update of the EPG manually or when is updated automatically by NextPVR the end time of that recording resets to its original time.

With this issue I have to remember to update the recording the same day after the EPG update, if I forget to do this I almost always don't get to record the end of the games.

Thanks.

  Comskip for h.264/NZ Freeview
Posted by: psycik - 2014-09-28, 09:13 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Anyone got this working? I haven't played with comskip since the MPEG2 DVB-S days.

Looking for creating comskip files to potentially reencode recording files (so they can be loaded in plex since that's a bit crap for skipping defined periods).
