I'm not tech-savvy so please be patient with me. I just bought the device, I tried to get it working with SageTV and gave up after a couple of days. Hoping NPVR is easier to use. I can view channels both in the Silicon software ('Quick View') and in NPVR but in both programs there are no channel names, everything is listed like this:
Channel....Name
5001........Unknown
5002........Unknown
5003........Unknown
Am I off to a bad start? Or are things supposed to start off that way? Anyway I saw a blog recommending Schedules Direct so I signed up, hoping there was a way to map channels automatically. I went to the Bulk Mapping screen, put my cursor on the first row/channel and selected 'Schedules Direct' and '1. OND' and then I got a couple of popups asking me if I wanted to bulk map. I clicked yes and then nothing seemed to happen - I'm still stuck with the above list of 'unknown' channels.
Do I have to map the channels one by one? (I really have no idea what I'm doing).
You select "Play" and it does the same as if you selected "Close". It doesn't like "£" (UK Pound sign) in the title. I dug out an old Windows client and it plays ok in that and it plays ok as a file in XBMC.
From the NextPVR server NPVR.log:-
Title:-"Horizon: The £10 Million Challenge"
File Name:-"D:\Horizon\Horizon The £10 Million Challenge_20140522_21002200.ts"
Setting activity: /stream?client=XNEWA0x902b34a88d5fL&f=D:\Horizon\Horizon The £10 Million Challenge_20140522_21002200.ts
/stream?client=XNEWA0x902b34a88d5fL&f=D:\\Horizon\\Horizon The £10 Million Challenge_20140522_21002200.ts
Horizon: The £10 Million Challenge
Horizon: The £10 Million Challenge",
I have six other recordings with a "£" UK pound sign in the title and they don't play either.
Frist off I deleted a show due to stupidity.
Notwithstanding this, deleting now seems too easy with Metadata Menu set.
Can we bring back a yes or no option, or consider a recycle bin please?
Hi,
I've a problem with the backend of nextpvr and xbmc
As you can see from the video below when I click the "REC" button nextpvr starts recording, so far so good.. i can't stop recording anyway. if i press the button a second time just it start a new registration (in another file).
I am wanting to connect my Sky box to my PC to enable me to record TV. The PC is a Dell XPS 8500 with an Avervideo M779 PCIe capture card. The Sky box is connected to the PC via the cards Composite video sockets and this works on Windows Media Centre.
I have installed nPVR version 3.2.9 but am unsure how to set it up. Under Settings, Devices I have
There are a couple of âfeaturesâ I sometimes see in X-NEWA related to pressing the âStopâ key on the remote while watching a recording. Until earlier this year I was using the Windows client and always used the âEscâ key on the remote instead of both âStopâ and âBackâ keys so rarely used the âStopâ key. Sometimes when I press the key as well as stopping the recording I get a popup âMAC Discovery failureâ for my NextPVR server. I think I have also seen this pressing the âBackâ key but there is no problem accessing the server.
More annoying is sometimes when pressing the key as well as stopping the recording it does a sort of the recordings. I donât know if the unwanted sort is a âfeatureâ of my model of remote control producing double key presses but it happens with both of mine at least once most evenings. I have experimented with pressing the key for over a second and with pressing the âBackâ key next to it at the same time to try and find a reason for the sort.
I am wondering if anyone might be able to suggest to me a tv tuner card for my HTPC.
I have a Freeview aerial so believe I am looking to put in a DVB-T2 card and can only find two contenders (im looking for at least two tuners), and was wondering if anyone had any comments or suggestions on these and\or other cards i may not know about. The two cards I am looking at are TBS 6285 and Hauppauge WinTV HVR 2200.
Lastly, I wonder if anyone knows how recording works with these cards if the pc is off ? Does the PC automatically wake\shut down for the recording ?
I've started using NPVR instead of MediaPortal but I cannot get AcamD to work as it does with MediaPortal, it just will not decode some channels which I am hoping is just a setting somewhere (like read PMT file which NPVR needs but MePo does not)
I use AcamD 0.6.2.0 connecting to NewCS without any issues on MediaPortal and NPVR it only works for some channels.
It appears that MediaPortal can resolve the name of the channel from the stream but NPVR does not and this must be causing the issues, this is from AcamD chcahe.ini:
MediaPortal = 7D5651ED=0105,0F2E,0963,00000000,0504,00C0,History HD
I have tried disabling the chcahe.ini file so it does not use it but this makes no difference.
If it helps I can confirm when the recording service is running I do not see the acamd monitor windows even though it is set to show at startup and the service can interact with the desktop (it is installed as admin as that is the only use on the server so it has full rights) but any setting in the acamd.ini does work (if I am updating the EPG I then get the multidec icon and the acamd monitor actually launches) so I know it is working and accepting the options I provide in the ini file.
Any help would be great as I am missing out on too much Pawn Stars and Storage Wars haha
