I cannot add a new recurring recording by hand. I get no errors but nothing happens either.
I have a utility that auto adds recurring recording entries when series as pilot episodes come up in the epg_event db. You can see those entries in the recurring recordings table.
Have I messed something up or is there another problem?
Been playing around with YAMMM and Media Center Master to create metadata for my Videos folders but it's been a bit unsatisfactory.
YAMMM creates XML files whose contents consist only of the title - it has options to create NFO files for XBMC and XML files for Windows Media Center while the NFO files are full of data but NPVR doesn't use them.
In contrast, MCM creates fairly rich XML files but NPVR doesn't seem to use those either, even if they have the same root name as the movie file.
Is anyone looking at this - If I buy a LCD TV at some point (Or likely OLED by then) I'll probably go Samsung but I recently got a 65" Panasonic plasma and I LOVE the picture on it - I'm gutted Panasonic are ditching them but by the latest reviews some of their newest IPS panels look pretty promising.
Is it at all likely that a NPVR client might be developed by someone here for Panasonics? Their media playback capabilities are pretty good and it'll throw 99.9% of downloaded videos I throw at it, not sure on the development options for their smartTV platform though.
I couldn't get NPVR to launch with the green button on the remote - Even though I'd set the option in the config and renamed EHTRAY.EXE as documented it just wouldn't work for me..... Until I hit on an epyphany.
I didn't want to scrap the built in remote support and go for HIP or similar for the sake of one button so instead I used a BAT2EXE util to make an executable called EHSHELL.EXE in c:\windows\ehome that simply launched NPVR.EXE -
This way (After putting EHOMETRAY.EXE back) hitting the greenbutton gets Windows to attempt to Launch Media Center but instead it runs EHSHELL.EXE which runs NPVR - Problem solved.
It seemed that EPG data was not updating (I use mc2xml directed towards Microsoft). Through mc2xml support I found out that Microsoft is having server issues. Unable to use other work around, I switched to a Scehdules Direct trial following directions on wiki, got good XMLTV data, but NPVR will not update into it's TVGuide.
I have tried manually running update EPG.
I have cleared EPG then tried the update.
I have reinstalled NPVR (althought I did not remove it completely first - do I need to do this?).
Nothing seems to work.
What should I try next as I only have two days of guide information left? Can I add directly to db?
My NPVR works ok at all but the Main Menu doesn't display at all.
When the program starts the window is black, the same when prees Ctrl+S, the window becomes black.
Pressing mouse context button can access functions, but I can't find a way to make the main menu appears.
OK, solved, just in general settings I changed UI mode to PVR.
I've have successfully used NEWA to schedule recordings on the server's NPVR for months.
The server is Win8 64
The client (inside LAN) is Win7 64
I am only interested in streaming LIVE TV. Not interested in streaming anything else.
I'm going to try to get streaming working inside the LAN with an intention of eventually streaming over the internet from outside the LAN.
I'm running stock 3.2.9 NPVR on both the client and the server.
On the Server
I downloaded VLC 2.1.5 and installed it on the server.
I did not make any other changes to VLC and/or NPVR and/or server.
There is no firewall active on the server.
On to the client...
ON the Client
I point Firefox to 192.168.1.204/8866 (where I have always gone to schedule recordings)
I expand Firefox to full screen so I can see the "Config" button.
Inside config I adjust the video and audio settings to point to C:\Program Files (x86)\... rather than the default C:\Program Files\...
I check open in external player for both video and audio and I specify WMP.
I go to the guide and choose a currently-showing program.
I choose "Stream Now"
The flag comes up stating "*** Starting Stream and then will tranfer window to Streamer page ***".
Nothing else ever happens. WMP doesn't open and no stream starts.
There is no firewall active on the client
I'm stumped and think I could use some guidance. Other threads seem to point to the same problem I'm having but unfortunately those threads end seemingly without resolution.
I have just set up nextpvr on my parents htpc (Intel NUC). However the live tv video quality is not great and is very choppy. What are the best decoders to use for this?
I have attached my current settings, using Cyberlink H.264/AVC

Quality was not an issue using XBMC but the lack of series link was not working for my parents (and a few other things.)
I can view video\audio perfectly when using the homerun QuickTV software. I am able to scan for all my channels via NPVR. When it comes time to view live TV, a temp file is create properly and debug info displays stats as if video is streaming, but I see no video and hear no audio.
