NextPVR freezes after removal of ISCSI disk
Posted by: erik - 2014-08-16, 10:35 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

NextPVR worked fine.
I'm using an ISCSI disk for backup, using the microsoft ISCSI initiator, the disk does not have a drive letter
No other application or service is supposed to use the backup disk

Whenever the server that provides the ISCSI target is down and the ISCSI inititator on the NextPVR machine is trying to reconnect, strange things happen

After starting NextPVR it is possible to play music or films.
But when going to recordings or the guide screen NextPVR locks up and never becomes responsive again.

Logs are attatched. Seems the database is accessable, no error messages

Now I have completely stopped the ISCSI initiator, after removing all ISCSI references and still NextPVR locks up when trying to access the guide or the recordings panel.

Anyone with a suggestion on what to try next????

Unable to communicate with Recording Service
Posted by: GAZZASONLINE - 2014-08-16, 10:11 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hi, I would really appreciate some advice with the error message I am getting "Unable to communicate with recording service.

I am desperatley trying to move away from MCE and NextPVR looks great and in fact once I get it working I intend using it as the backend for XBMC. However I came unstuck today and after three hours of testing / trying and reading I am still having no luck.

The EPG downloads fine, I scanned and can see all my channels. I know my tv card works as MCE can see and play the channels.

So based on this and all the reading I have done I am assuming it must be a decoder issue.

I have tried all the various decoder options and still no luck.

I have also tried the following - and had no luck:

- Ran NextPVR as administrator
- Checked and allowed NextpVR program through my firewall
- I temperorily disabled my virus pgm and firewall and tested it - no luck

Can anyone help me fault find please as I am very keen to get the PVR working

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Gary

  renaming channels / renumbering
Posted by: haverer2 - 2014-08-15, 06:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

hello!
just wondering whether changing channel names or the number of a channel will affect recordings already scheduled, or when you rename / number them, does some check take place to update that new info in the scheduled recordings database?
Thanks,
John

  5400 rpm HDD fast enough?
Posted by: agerdin - 2014-08-15, 06:56 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Hi,

I am building a new HTPC and was wondering if a new modern 5400 rpm hdd is fast enough or if I need hdds with 7200rpm?

The disk I am looking at is?

It need to handle multiple recordings also in HD. The provider I am using is DVB-S Canal Digital in Sweden.

  Single record/stop-recording button?
Posted by: ak1i - 2014-08-15, 06:44 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hi,

Is there a single-button available to record/stop current recording?

Currently Ctrl-K would prompt a manual recording menu. But I want it to start recording immediately--until I hit say the stop button again.

Thx.

Adding 'queue' option to schedule once tuner is free ?
Posted by: Spark - 2014-08-15, 02:30 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

While setting up some recordings, I noticed if channel has a show that ends at 9:05 and the next show on the same channel starts at 9:05, what happens is, it starts recording as expected on tuner 1, and when shows ends, instead of using tuner 1 again, it starts the next recording at 9:05 on a different tuner.
I believe this is because of the padding at the end (which I have set to 3 mins).

Now, if I wanted to record another channel, it wouldn't allow it at the start time (9:00), since it would conflict, since the other tuners are in use.
Fine.
However, I don't really care that the show will be recorded 5 mins into it, hence the request of adding a 'queue' option that means, start recording whenever a tuner is free.

The other option would be to set padding for each recording separately, which would also solve the issue, since, at 9:05, it would free tuner, and start using the same tuner again at that time, or have it automatically set padding to 0 for cases when you are doing sequential recordings on the same channel.
This would allow to have the program at 9-10 be recorded, and have the one that starts at 9:05 be recorded as well.

Hope that makes sense ?

  Recording import fail
Posted by: Bobins - 2014-08-14, 11:53 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I've regularly imported mpg files into NPVR before but for some reason it's stopped working. I have an xml file in the standard recordings.xml format and when I run the import from the settings utility it says it has imported the right number of recordings..... only problem is.... none are then present in the database.

I've double checked the files are present and the names in the xml file are correct.

I can't find anywhere in the logs which shows what's going on in the import process.

How can I find out what is failing?

ImageGrabLite failed to rename Extant recording
Posted by: scJohn - 2014-08-14, 10:02 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (4)

IGL has successfully renames this shows recording in the past but for some reason failed last during the batch Post Processing.

Attached are the log files and the Extant XML file from the Series folder.

  behaviour of scheduled recording
Posted by: haverer2 - 2014-08-14, 06:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hello there!

Just wondering whether anyone can shed any light on the way the scheduled recordings works in this situation...

I've 2x DVB tuners and 1x satellite tuner picking up freesat in the UK.

If I schedule BBC1 to record at 20:00 - no problem.

If I schedule ITV1 to record at 20:00 - no problem.

They are on separate multiplexes, so using both DVB tuners.... if I then choose to record BBC1 HD for example, which is on yet another multiplex, I obviously get a message saying that this isn't possible... However, I do have BBC1 HD on the Satellite tuner available... is there a way to make nPVR pick up that one - perhaps with a dialogue box to say - 'erm, do you want to use this one instead?!' - rather than just say - not possible and me manually select that channel from further down the program guide?

Thanks,
John

  Change remote control behaviour
Posted by: Rinse Lemstra - 2014-08-14, 05:49 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I have a generic mce remote control ( auvisio ). I am not fully happy with the keymapping. Is there a way to configure this ? (for example one button to stop the current task (default 'stop' button) and return to the main menu ( default 'clear' button ), or configure the 'play' button to start a video or recorded program (default 'OK' button)

thanks in advance,

Rinse
